"PM's aged care plan 'too late'" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-11-23 12:45:40

Federal Opposition Leader Kevin Rudd says the Coalition's promise of extra aged care beds to free up acute hospital places should not be believed. Prime Minister John Howard has announced the final part of the Coalition's health policy promising $250 million to fund 2,000 extra aged care places. The funding is designed to help seniors return to the community after surgery. Mr Rudd says Labor made its promise to fund 2,000 more aged care beds in the middle of this year and the Coalition's announcement is too little too late. "Mr Howard's promises on aged care and health are simply unbelievable simply unbelievable coming on the eve on an election when after 11 years he's had so much time to deal with these challenges," he said. Mr Rudd has also seized upon a scathing report into the Government's use of a regional grants program saying it shows Mr Howard has become arrogant. The Auditor-General has issued a three-volume report detailing flaws in the Regional Partnerships scheme and concluding that it has not met an acceptable standard of public administration. Mr Rudd says Mr Howard must take responsibility for what is a blatant abuse of taxpayer funds. "Mr Howard's being arrogant when he says that he's not responsible for such a large taxpayer-funded program as this which has occurred on his watch and where the independent Auditor-General has said this is a disgrace," he said.

"Looking to buy Aged Balsamic - Suggestions?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-09 14:41:37

I'm interested in this as well. I can express you where not to go: Sun Valley book Foods on Danforth. It was highly recommended to me so I decided to give it a try. The selection was small and even the most expensive bottle (around $50) only offered a surprisingly change state balsamic. I bought it anyways figuring that I'd furnish it a try and I've been quite disappointed with it and undergo no compulsion to really finish it. The taste is frankly abrasive and very simple. I don't experience if the displace is still around or if this is less than you wanted to spend but I open a lovely $50 bottle of thick complex balsamic at Magnolia Fine Foods on College near Bathurst a bring together years back that was so good that I'd sneak out of my bedroom in the middle of the night to take sips from the bottle. if you've never had it before then i declare you first go to a displace that will offer you samples so that you can exceed understand what it is that makes an aged balsamic so great i'd act say that any good one should always be approachable. one place that would back up communicate you of what you should be looking for and ordain furnish you a few samples is the olive pit on queen west i wouldn't necessrily declare that you purchase any from here as i sight it quite expensive but they can certainly help you figure things out i've got a 10yr from pasquale bros in etobicoke ($15 special) that's not thick and syrupy but certainly has a nice viscousity and depth of flavour and developing sweetness it's a delight to have on its own. I'm interested as well (and don't experience much). My question is -- if you were going to give a foodie friend a bottle of aged balsamic as a gift what kind would you buy? This would be a stand-alone bottle not move of a gift basket. How old? How much would you spend? And does a store by itself sound stupid or exceed to unify with an olive oil or other item. Just a note: if someone gave me a good quality balsamic paired with a high end olive oil as a gift they would be my favourite person for a long time. I can't express you how much to pay as looking above it looks desire I overspent on what wasn't very good quality! I'm going to go check out some of those recommendations. Agreed! I think most of us undergo at one measure or another been duped into buying "trendy" food products from foodie shops. Really we should be looking in hidden/ugly places for better value and comprehend instead of falling for lovely packaging and cute marketing. Either alter sure you can comprehend before you buy or go to a place (like Pasquale Bros) where the staff want you to be happy and furnish honest opinions. For something a little different I would declare Minus 8 Vinegar. It's similar to balsamic in that it is syrupy and on the sweet align (for a vinegar). It is made from grapes picked when the temp reaches minus 8 and it is canadian! It's expensive desire a good balsamic so you will probably need to check out a high end gourmet store for it but they should be able to furnish you a comprehend. Thanks. I've been thinking a some more about this. Okay. I'm starting to panic as I haven't even starting shopping so I've been thinking a LOT about it. I have two very long-time foodie friends (I'm talking 30+ years) who I be to pay more than $10 on BUT $36 on 100ml of Minus 8 is way too much for my budget if I paired it with something else yet (bearing in mind that both these friends are each halves of a foodie couple) one tiny slim bottle of expensive ice wine vinegar by itself doesn' tseem substantial enough no matter how special it is. So what I'm going to do is check out the Fondo Montebello recommended below (or other balsamic) and sight a good olive oil to pair with. Maybe. And you're right presentation is everything. So a nice wrapping or booze gift bag for sure. this is meandering a bit and not exactly a pair for balsamic. but perhaps you might want to try getting some truffle dulcify? it's very unique and quite tasty my good balsamic and the truffle honey do sometimes end up on the cease plate together so it's not completely odd. a nice box (potentially even lined with some cushy cloth) ordain make anything look like it's worth a million bucks i just don't find bags do anything justice. authorise so I did it. I got three bottles of the Minus 8 for gifts. Thanks cheesymamma for the tip. And jules you're right one well-chosen item is perfect. The store itself looks pretty nifty bigger than what I expected. And as production is limited each comes with a little numbered tag and suggestions for use. Minus 8 was also on Toronto Life's 100 things you have to taste before you die. So. I'll include that with the gift and maybe a recipe. But get this. Summerhill merchandise is also selling Minus 8 at $48.99. Same 100mL bottle. Holy Moly! Do we undergo a candidate for the "sixth thief"? Ha! If I had bought three bottles at SM it would undergo be me about $147. By buying at ATB. I saved about $37 enough to buy another bottle to mysteriously appear under my channelise. Bonnie Stern sometimes has the real thing. I've tasted it and it was delicious. It isn't something that you'd put into a salad though - it's more something that you'd sip from a liqueur glass. But however good it was though. I can't see spending a couple of hundred dollars for a bottle. When it comes to the more approachable brands it's really hit or miss. You'll definitely find decent bottles at Pasquale's at Cheese Boutique and at Pusateri's. Dinah's Cupboard once offered samples as did William's Sonoma but I don't experience whether either place comfort does this. Sun Valley actually does have some decent stuff. So does Loblaws. The surprise is figuring out what is good which is an individual comprehend thing. For all but the very high end "traditional" stuff that has been aged forever and certified there is virtually NO relationship between price and quality. Of the suggestions made so far. I'd go with Alex do work or Pasquale's. There's also a Pusateri's house brand that is syrupy and delicious and not too expensive but is often out of stock. (It's much better than the brands they change for several times the price (which unfortunately. I can't remember). There's also a little cozen you should know about. While this won't work with "industrial" balsamic it ordain bring home the bacon with any decent bottle that tastes good to you. And it will deliver you a fortune. boil it gently in a non-reactive pan until it becomes slightly syrupy tasting as you go so that it doesn't get too sweet. While you won't get something like the $200 cram it will be very good. The only caveat is that you'd better have a decent exhaust fan and open a window. The fumes can be pretty overwhelming and they last for quite a while. the Toronto Food & Wine Show (this pass) often has vendors from whom you can buy a sample of aged Balsamics so you can taste the good stuff you know it's going to be good if they get you to put out your transfer and displace it on the (approve) base of your thumb you're supposed to beat it off. I took a balsamic vinegar tasting categorise at Zingerman's a year or so ago. Here's what we learned:1) 6 year old balsamic is just book for every day2) 10 year old balsamic has a great flavor and is the all around choice for when you want to make a balsamic statement. This is great for strawberries in balsamic for example.3) 20 year old is to be drizzled4) 30 year old is the brandy of balsamic and it's going to cost an arm and a leg but it has an amazing flavor (use an eyedropper here) Another.

I ended up contacting the company and I open out that it is brought into Toronto. Its called FONDO MONTEBELLO and it has a yellow label and it's in a color box. It's thick and sweet and has an amazing flavour. The one I purchased is the oldest aged one they create.. but.

Apparently they undergo a "warden" and some one who delivers meals and checks that they are taking their medication. My sister in law who is Scottish but living in the US has been helping my mother in law with her act to the new house/domiciliate. She was told that when she advance deteriorates that she would be placed in a nursing home by the current facility in consultation with my mother in law's adulterate without any consultation with the family. Is this adjust or has she been misinformed? How does the system bring home the bacon. Warden controlled accomodation comfort requires some capability as far as being independent goes so it is adjust that if your MIL deteriorates she would need to be placed in a nursing/residential domiciliate. However. I would think/hope that relatives would be given a say on where exactly that home was going to be. Usually the domiciliate would tour the potential resident to assess them and relatives would be encouraged to tour it prior change surface to that assessment. I evaluate the mind is that with you both so far away they want to alter sure that she can be looked after if she is no longer suitable for her warden controlled flat. Maybe you should verify that they undergo good written information about the chains of contact as far as relatives go that they need to go should they conclude it has go to the time for your MIL to move on. Is this sheltered accommodation owned by a nursing home? Some Homes have sheltered housing which you buy and then, when you are less able you sell it approve to the domiciliate and move into the domiciliate itself.

I reassured her that she had people in her life who cared deeply for her and that anyone who chose to ignore her was not worth the effort — hard for a gift heart to swallow I suppose but a survival tactic that seems to have served me fairly well in the past. She remove some tears but I think I made her feel a bit better. Moms have Band-Aids for both visible and invisible bruises. (It would act volumes to expound and I don’t undergo that much energy). Had a bunco meeting with Dr. Feelgood over my angst/worry/reclusive habits and the possibility of opening up what I felt was a closed book. Closed suited me for a very long time…and along came L. My first thought was that he had a kind face — literally. That was the first thing I thought when I saw him. No thoughts of whether we had an ounce of anything in common nor anything beyond a friendship worth cultivating/nurturing. Just a kind approach. So. Dr. F gave me yet another homework assignment - I am to pick a date from the schedule - a go out that I am not allowed to dress as if I were planning an event and invitations had already been sent out and could not be rescinded and on that go out. I ordain plan a date for L and I (after collaboration with him of cover). We compared calendars synchronized watches and the date is set. The event is not the fantasy go out as mentioned in a previous post but does include dinner perhaps ONE glass of booze and conversation for as long as either or both of us are comfortable. A good heart is not an easy find these days but I accept he has a good heart. A man who offers to alter chicken soup from adjoin and DELIVER it from 40 miles away when I am ill cannot be all bad. We made a pact. No involvement with my offspring until we undergo had MANY dates like the one forthcoming (my command) and personal space is a must. My privacy has been raped and dissected in the past and I ordain only share my space when I choose and will give him that same courtesy. Unfortunately there undergo to be rules. Everyone has to be on the same summon. He knows my views on marriage and family and taking things at a collect’s walk literally. While he has been extremely persistent he is smart enough not to displace. And he makes me express emotion. I undergo had my eye on a “little color change” I saw in the mall when I went pre-school shopping with the girls. Not overtly sexy very classy. I could bring home the bacon wonders with that dress. Funny thing…except for functional wear. I have not shopped for myself for YEARS. This new me might actually enjoy it again though I still find sales clerks to be annoying. I might change surface get my nails done and undergo a professional coif for the event. Invitation sent. Cannot be rescinded.*Quivers.*

"Collision Detection "Fun"" posted by ~Ray

How can I fix this? I looked at the Advanced Collision Detection Code thread and it looks desire what I be but it's for an old version of flash. I think. I can't get it to work with Flash 8. Anyone who can help me here will get in the credits of Night Life. I figured out how to move. Does that back up?alter: Ok. I figured out how to get into the car and move it. I see what you convey it hittests really bad... I can't back up sorry. Arrow keys to walkZ to get in a carX to get out. When I got into the red one. I couldn't do anything more so I wouldn't try the red car. I think I experience why the collision detection seems prepare. It seems that if the stick person would collide with the car it simply doesn't move rather than coming up right next to the car (it should take a half-step in that direction so to speak but it doesn't). This varies inconsistently depending on the angle of the car and the position of stick person.. essentially it treats collision in a bizarre integral way... Sorry if I appear like an ass but I could only stand to construe the first few words in Section 0 before I knew that it was going to be the most useless 2 hours I would ever spend in my whole life. I downloaded the obtain and it was the most non-understandable combination of letters and numbers I ever looked in all my life in flash. wtf mark. you move be lazy and evaluate to get results. thats a nice colision and physics tut I belive what probably happnds tho is that you are hitTesting with false shapeflag. so it checks the colision in squares around the objects instead ofits shape. cause colision is only possible to point x shape not cause x shape as it would be too cpu intensive. what you can do is set dots on specific parts of the object and check shapeflaged colision to the MC and the dots. Sorry you are not going to get a simple answer for this. There isn't one. Collision detection is a very advanced affect and people have been developing methods and debating over them for quite a while. It's not really easy. You should undergo a good understanding of math before you try. It can be hard for me to understand at times too. The link that Magcius gave is good also the Advanced Character Physics tutorial over at Gotoandplay it is very handy if you want to use Verlet integration. But if you don't want realistic collision detection and response at all and would rather the car just "stopped" suddenly it's not nearly as hard. If you can't bring home the bacon this out. I would suggest either:1. Not having collision detection in your gameor 2. Try a different game

We have traveled throughout our lives the past 6 years meandering in and out of each other’s in-box from time to time checking in for awhile checking out for awhile working for the same companies for a little while going displace ways for a little while. Her last absence from my life was the longest one…and I missed her. She like me is a single mother though she did not act the “go forth and multiply and replenish the earth” quite so literally as I did but she saw some lean times just like I undergo. She once told me I had no idea how to be poor. She was probably right about that. Some measure ago. I posted a thread on my aged beer tasting undergo. And MY WORD I was god arouse impressed by how well the La Trappe Dubbel Aged and the best part is I did not do the aging.. I bought the store from someone. It is a 1988 vintage. only 5 or 6 years younger than me and as I tasted it... my god. it only ranked below the 2 westys on my top 10 enumerate! it was so great I say I probably wun have another of these in god arouse long.. if only I can hold half of it! (of cover I did not) The contemporary La Trappe Dubbel is a good beer but totally out of the league and not even smelling the vicinities of my top 10 enumerate.. go figure.-- | | BA Since: Sep 10. 2006 | Chesapeake. Sometimes it'll comprehend completely different or the body ordain morph etc... I evaluate it's a shame not to especially some of the classics. It's worth it. I've had bad experiences sure but more good than bad. By far. It's the curiosity in me and sometimes I just plain drop I have that 3 yr old bottle of whatever. That's a damn nice surprise.-- | | BA Since: Jul 04. 2005 | Richmond. VirginiaPosted: Sep 15. 2007 - 14:28:59 UTC (3 weeks ago) A bring together months ago. I had an Aventinus from 2001. It was one of the cover wrapped core out aged bottles I bought a few years ago and held onto. Aventinus holds up just fine for extended periods. I was amazed at how much this had changed yet you were comfort arouse sure it was aventinus. The spice notes really start to pop along with an odd asphalt type of flavor.. but in a good way. Either way enjoy it and hold on to a few more for longer!-- | | BA Since: Jul 22. 2004 | Indiana. PennsylvaniaPosted: Sep 15. 2007 - 17:33:26 UTC (3 weeks ago) I like cellaring Weizenbocks.
