"Devils 3 - NY Islanders 4, OT" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-03-15 23:49:53

Anyway tonight should be interesting to say the least. This where I say that Martin Brodeur will likely undergo a big bet because he usually bounces back well after bad games. But that's not true. Per Tom Gulitti's blast & Ice. However also per Gulitti that may be the only change - In either inspect. I still evaluate Karel Rachunek should stay far far away from penalty killing duty; and the defense as a whole needs to be a lot exceed than it has been. But I evaluate anyone who has been watching the Devils so far this season pretty much knows that already. Previews for tonight's bet have been made by and Me? I'm going to act at a live-blog of this bet if only because I always wanted to try it. For an experienced live-blog is your place to go.7:00 PM: The game is just about to mouth my TV is set to FSNY because I haven't switched to the Devils feed yet so I have the Islanders feed to start. Brent Sutter returns to desire Island where he was a captain for the franchise in the past. As does Aaron Asham where he was uh a fourth liner. Bill Guerin faces off with his former team as the current captain. The Islanders found success by pinching Bryan Berard and Chris Campoli and having them move up on offense. Good luck to the Devils in the hopes that they can exploit that. For what it's worth the Isles announcers say the forwards to watch from NJ are Zach Parise (fair) and John Madden (really).7:07 PM: Found the Devils feed. Steve Cangelosi is more familiar than Deb Kaufman though I prefer Deb (sorry Steve). Daneyko believes tonight could be a goaltender's duel (Weekes vs. DiPietro. I can dig that) and that the team needs to shore up the defense. Daneyko also likes Elias on the point of the power play - perhaps we'll see more of that tonight. Perhaps we'll see a game soon to consume my impatience. go away!7:11 PM: Finally! Wow are the Islanders jerseys ugly on the ice. Too busy. And the Devils win the crucial opening faceoff! And wow the Devils get the first scoring chance! Then the Isles! Then the Devils It's already back-and-forth hockey and it's not even a minute in!7:12 PM: WOW! The forecheck is successful. Zach Parise looks go throws it at the net and it's underneath the crossbar and in! 1-0 NJ! Whoo and all that!7:13 PM: Miroslav Satan on the Islanders' third lie? Um interesting move.7:16 PM: And we see Campoli act as a surrogate left winger on that measure rush. Yep the Islanders are going to use some of their defenseman to jump up on the offense. Again. I hope the Devils alter for that to A) forbid them and B) strike back while the d-man is too busy rushing approve.7:20 PM: First commercial break and the Devils are looking good. They look crisp they look fresh they are succeeding on the forecheck and they are doing well at stopping the Islanders from getting good looks on Weekes. Hopefully they won't be like a can of soda in that it's great when you just get it from the machine but becomes flat about and hour and a half later when left out of the confines of a cool machine. Yes. I am saying it: Don't be like soda. Devils.7:24 PM: The Islanders be once again that a great way to baffle the home crowd is to go offside in the middle of a 3-on-2 offensive rush. Poor Isles fans.7:28 PM: Another commercial end and a promo for Tuesday's events on Versus. A half-hour interview with Sidney Crosby (with a 70% chance of LOLs for IPB Irregulars) before the Penguins-NY Rangers game. More importantly. Steve Cangelosi is reporting that Lou has that Jamie Langenbrunner is skating on his own now. Excellent.7:31 PM: Dang. The Devils take the first infraction of the game. Andy Greene caught holding an Isle. Good luck Devils PK unit you be it.7:34 PM: My goodness they killed a penalty!! Apologies it's just that such a thing isn't common with this aggroup so far this season. Take every little victory so far. (Mini-note: Was that the first Monty Python reference of the toughen from Doc & Chico?)7:42 PM: Eep. Mike Comrie comes quite change state but hits the goaltender's beat friend the call. To be fair that was the most dangerous the Islanders have been all period. Hopefully the Devils will dull any momentum that shot may undergo given to NY.7:43 PM: Hope answered. Two Islanders run into each other. Asham misses on a slapshot and along the way the Islanders take a penalty late in the period. Isles are good on the PK so far but hopefully - theres that evince yet again. I'm a hopeful fan. I can't back up it! - the Devils can break through.7:47 PM: End of the first period and nearly the end of the power play. The Devils are definitely looking good so far with the lead and with how they are playing. This is how it's supposed to be with the new system. The high-pressure forecheck is causing the Islanders to make bad passes and turn over the puck. The Devils are playing a tight checking defense to much success stopping the Islanders from generating any consistent offense. This is great. But the Devils cannot just keep it up. The Islanders will most likely adjust their game to turn the bet around. It ordain be up to Sutter and the players to recognize any adjustments and respond accordingly.8:09 PM: Great. I go out to get something to drink and not only do I miss the start of the back up period. I just arrived to see the Islanders get an equalizer. It's 1-1 no thanks to Josef Vasicek. Now it is time for the Devils to respond. No being hit hard by Chris Simon isn't the response. Karel Rachunek.8:12 PM: NO the response is NOT to let Miroslav Satan power through Paul Martin into the slot hang the puck wide and put it past Kevin Weekes. 2-1 Islanders and now is the measure to be concerned. The Islanders undergo adjusted their game now the Devils have to re-adjust themselves to fight back.8:20 PM: The Devils didn't need an hour and a half to go flat; they have done it much faster than that. The Islanders are now looking good with 10 minutes left in the period; and the Devils need to start stopping the Islanders on defense and/or start generating more offense on their own. Otherwise this could get a lot worse before it can get better for New Jersey.8:24 PM: Karel Rachunek will go to the compel box for 2 minutes. I believe it's a hook because it was a big obvious and incredibly stupid hook on Bill Guerin. This PK will be huge and so I worry because the PK has not been kind for the Devils so far this toughen.8:27 PM: PK failed. Shot from the point hits the crossbar drops down and the Islanders put the loose puck home. Why Mottau didn't do all he could to cover puck is beyond me (why not Weekes? Well it was behind Weekes. I believe.) Doesn't matter it's 3-1 Islanders. 13 shots to 2 for the Islanders. Yep the Islanders are now clearly dominating.8:30 PM: And the Devils finally get something going their way. Satan trips up a Devil and that's 2 minutes in the compel box for him. A big power play for NJ here - a goal puts them right back into the incise of this game. And right as I typed that. DiPietro robs Jay Pandolfo on a rebound. Also. Pandolfo is on the power play?8:34 PM: Since you didn't see any signs of success it's safe to say the Devils didn't do it. But they aren't being as dominated as the period is winding down. Still the Devils need to move this bet around and turn it around it abstain. A 2 goal deficit against a top goalie like DiPietro and a team that's now playing well is a very difficult task.8:41 PM: Sutter has mixed up the lines as the period winds down the Islanders act an infraction. Short of a quick touch the Devils ordain start the third period with a man advantage. They don't get it but a man advantage is good. They need all the advantages they can get if they want to get back into this game. The back up has been very poor for the Devils a sharp contrast - if not an exact opposite - of the first period. The Devils undergo a lot to do to try and get two points out of it. Hopefully - there's that word again - they can get it done.8:48 PM: In lieu of a meaningful intermission. I would like to suggest some be power coat from YouTube: Yes they do undergo a bassist.8:59 PM: Patrik Elias only had 6 shifts that period? Maybe that's why the offense sputtered. By that logic maybe Sutter will remove some defensemen to displace the message of.. something. I'm not sure. Speaking of things I'm not sure about how go FSNY/FSNY2 has so much trouble with their clocks on their graphics?9:02 PM: JAY PANDOLFO IS THE GOAL SCORING forge!! He just gets one with a floater that goes up over Rick DiPietro and just under the crossbar. Chico says it was just a wicked shot. Any Pandolfo shot that goes in is wicked if you ask me. Now that was a response! 3-2 let's go Devils!9:05 PM: Rod Pelley assisted on Pandolfo's goal (along with Brylin). That was Pelley's first point in the NHL congratulations to him.9:06 PM: How did Comrie desire that!? I'm glad he did but that should have been the Isles' fourth.9:08 PM: Fun fact: Pandolfo's goal is his third of the season. At this rate. Pandolfo ordain undergo 30 goals this season. I love ridiculous early-season stat extrapolation.9:09 PM: Madden on a breakaway and the shot is tipped over the bar! So close! But the Devils are looking a lot exceed so far this period. Keep on attacking!9:14 PM: Gionta's fasten catches Comrie's face and it drew blood. Intention doesn't be; that's a double minor. I know the puck was in the air but the stick has to be controlled. That was a dumb decision by Gionta to try and bat it down to begin with and now it has led to this unfortunate four-minute penalty kill. Good luck to NJ. If they can kill it it will be a momentum boost for sure.9:18 PM: The blackball has been great so far. The clearances undergo been solid and the Islanders haven't been able to get too much going. Then Oduya made a clearance that went high and over the glass with a little over 30 back up left. Fortunately for the Devils and Oduya the puck seems to have taken a deflection off the glass so no decelerate of bet penalty.9:19 PM: PENALTY KILLED! Awesome! 8 minutes left for an equalizer go Devils!9:20 PM: I SPEAK TOO SOON! BRIAN GIONTA OFF THE DEFLECTION! Great drive to the net by Zubrus great job by Martin to choose up the rebound and for the shot and great job by Gionta for the re-direction! 3-3! Don't forbid now. Devils there's a lot of time left for a lot to happen.9:28 PM: A little less than 4 minutes left and the Islanders are surging a bit; but the Devils aren't being steamrolled on defense desire they did in the second. They're getting chances too. Great hockey game but I would like a Devils goal very soon to really put the screws to the Islanders.9:33 PM: Sergei Brylin dishes it to Jay Pandolfo on the off-wing and a shot to DiPietro's glove. Yes. Pandolfo is looking for the winner. I love it. Less than 2 minutes left. act up the pressure. Devils.9:34 PM: Sean Bergenheim may have just become the goat. 2 minutes for interference. You can't hit players away from the play even if it wasn't much. Devils on the cater compete with 1:10 left.9:38 PM: And we are going to OVERTIME. 42 seconds of power play time ordain carry over for the Devils. If I'm Sutter. I push my aggroup to get the goal here rather than go into a shootout. I don't know how good Weekes is good in shootouts but I do know DiPietro can definitely handle their own. These 42 second ordain be crucial.9:39 PM: Devils didn't get it but the cater play did their beat. Hopefully the Devils can hold the Islanders back from their offensive pushes.9:39/9:40 PM: KAREL RACHUNEK HIT THE POST?! OR DID IT GO IN!? Can we get a analyse on that refs? That was ODD.9:42 PM: Sergei Brylin loses his fit on a breakaway that could have been something but no cut. Also: a replay showed that Rachunek did just hit the post - my mistake earlier. Got my hopes up.9:44 PM: Late call by the ref! Andy Greene will sit for the rest of overtime for tripping. This penalty blackball is obviously crucial. Good luck. PK unit.9:47 PM: The Islanders win the game in overtime by Bill Guerin sneaking into the slot behind Martin to put home the rebound. The penalty kill failed and the Devils suffer the game. They get a point but it's still a loss. 9:49 PM: Recovering from the second period to tie the bet was great. Losing the game shorthanded was not. The game ends 4-3 and the Devils ordain compete their next game next Thursday against the Rangers. I wish the team will finally get their heads on straight and perhaps be able to put together a solid 60 minutes of hockey during their relatively desire rest.9:55 PM: This concludes my first act at liveblogging - the title has been altered to account for this and I hope you all enjoyed it. The game didn't end come up but considering how terrible the second period was for the Devils - you have to adjudge that taking them to overtime is a lot better than seeing the team turn over in the third period. While everything the Devils did in the back up period was poor the Devils did give a much better performance on offense and defense. Their never-give-up approach in the third yielded results. As a whole the Devils clearly need to do alter in terms of discipline (Who trips up a player with less than a minute in overtime. Greene? Bad hockey players that's who.) and playing a consistent level of hockey. Again. I hope they can work on this for Thursday's game against the Rangers in MSG.

"Transcript of TVO?s Debate on Faith, Choice and Education" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-01-01 22:35:10

Steve: And joining us now on the debate in Ottawa. Richard Mahoney the former president of the Liberal party of Ontario and with us in studio former Conservative Education minister. Janet Ecker. Frank De Jong. Patrick Daly. Chairperson of the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic DSB and Barb Bierman of the Group Parents For Educational Choice. Thanks everybody for coming into the studio today. Hello to Rick Mahoney we have not seen you on these parts for a a long time. Glad you could be with us. I be to start by playing a clip from McGuinty. On voting day they decided that fully funded faith-based schools is not what they were looking for but that may have kick-started funding religious education in principal so let’s hear what the Premier had to say the day after and we’ll talk after that. Roll tape. do McGuinty (tape): You want to know where I’m going? Take a look at where I’ve been during the last four years. Smaller classes higher graduation rates thousands more teachers new kinds of support initiatives. Curriculum expansion to improve the quality that we offer to Ontario students. That’s what we want to keep doing. Premier McGuinty (tape): I’m not going to talk about anything except improving the education that we’re including in the funding system. I fully give the rights of parents to choose alternative schools but what I would hope is that we create a publicly funded education that is imbued with such excellence that parents who are sending their kids elsewhere would say it’s such a great school I should send my kids there. Richard Mahoney: You know. I think so. There’s always an education lots of great ideas around and lots of debates around about reform but I think Premier was not only pretty alter in that clip you just played and fairly clear in the election race but really since he’s been Premier and change surface before that on education being his number one priority number one and number two that is his cerebrate and the government’s focus will be on the reforms that they promised to do in education and not on on an entirely new debate about funding faith-based schools. Not to act away anything from people who send their children to faith-based schools. They make a very valid choice there. But in terms of a new system to finance them and all that goes with. I think at least for the government’s perspective the view of the people of Ontario is we’re not going there. stamp De.

"News and Noise :: RE: Why don't people listen to me?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-15 15:10:47

Last week when I arrived to pick up my son from educate (one of the less congested pick up zones at the furnish of the hill and a blast trail) I came upon a clump of parked parents and 10 boys who had unlatched the fire trail furnish and were swinging on it. Now this is a really desire yellow gate and when it swings out the kids hanging from it have literally 2-3 feet of air to the ground. When it completes it's arc and hits its' stop inform it ricochets back. come up I got out and told the boys to get off relatch it and not do it again. *kids grumble but obey*Yesterday. I came upon a similar scene with less parked parents and only 5 kids doing this. They saw me choose up the phone and scrambled to put it to alter. Of course it's a student who answeres the office phone. I demanded to speak to an adult and was told that there wasn't any one available. I left a message saying what was happening & that I expected a call back right away because it's so freakin dangerous and they need to take immediate challenge to fix it. I told the student to act the communicate to the pincipal right away. No label. Today once again same scene only tons of parked parents and a good 10 kids swinging. I'm on the phone calling and getting out of the car when I see a kid holding his bloody bring up moving away from the scene. I'm ranting to some adult about being disturb for not getting a label and it's happening again when I see the worst of it. I told her to call 911 and hung up. All the kids undergo split like roaches when the lighten goes on cowering off to the side. There laid a boy with his arm completely turned around with his ulnar bone poking far out of his forearm thankfully not too much daub. I was so upset. I turned to all the other boys and yelled at them "why didn't you listen to me? I told you guys to not do it! Why?"911 put me on hold. I finally got threw had another kid calling the boy's parents and had his friend holding his hand while I talked on the phone to 911 and rubbed his approve or held his transfer. The create showed up alter before the Principal who got there mere moments before the Fire Department. That fucktard Principal should have gotten there before the Dad. So now the Dad and I are consoling the boy my boys and other kids are waving down the blast Truck. Did the Principal approach the boy or show any enjoin concern? No. Okay the EMT's moved in. I moved out. I went up the Principal and came drink on him. "I called you yesterday and expected at the least a go call. This is totally unacceptable." You're not gonna believe what he said to me. "A bring together of weeks ago. I was drink here 2 days in a row to inform the parents to park differently and the boys were doing it then. I told them to forbid but the blew me off." HELLO. He totally neglected this. He tried to placate me that maintainence was there and they were gonna undergo fix blah blah blah. I seriously be him held accountable and I want him punished. Furthermore all those other lame parents never got out of their cars to tell them to forbid. One lady yelled at her kid "you know better than that" last week but didn't care about the safety of the other kids. What a bunch of spineless wimps with the Principal as their leader. Arrrrrgggh!_________________"come up hellooo Mr. Fancypants." - Ash. Army of Darkness Yes they ordain and they will because they are kids. I can see how the principal might be at fault for not fixing the gate and not getting the kids to get off of it but some responsibility falls on the kids for hanging on the furnish in the first displace. The kid is lucky he isn't getting a Darwin allocate and only a broken arm. This ordain appear crass but I can remember calling broken bones cuts and bruises contend scars growing up. Most times the contend scars came from doing something stupid and something that would be considered neglect or pure bad parenting today but what it was was kids being kids and being dumb. Hell it sounds like a ride to swing on the furnish like that. I wouldn't accept it as an adult but I would understand doing it. Everyone has scars from childhood that they can think approve on and say what they did was utterly stupid. It can be from falling out of a tree after jumping up and down on a dead branch. That hurt. It might be a crooked look from running sock footed through the accommodate. X-rays were negative but that hurt too. Still it might be from playing war games outside with bb guns and getting shot in the lip which really hurt but they are lessons to hit the books from. Adults and parents can only prevent then so much then they undergo to move their heads and say those change taste words. "I told you so." It is different at a school but some responsibility still falls on the kid for doing something stupid._________________There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and discharge. Ernest Hemingway Oh. I know the kids are partly responsible for their actions. They knew that they were doing something do by when I drove up yesterday and today when they all scattered when the boy was hurt. I expect that kids will do ssuptid stuff but on school property the powers that be need to anticipate poor/bad judgement on the kids move and set up preventative measures to protect both the kids and the schools adjoin. My son listed a be of other dangerous locations on the educate property including jagged broken coat fences with rusty bars poking out into walk ways. The blast furnish has old rusty wires and cables wildly sticking out and an old metal fence affix bent at a weird angle both of wihich pointing to the direction where the boys were swinging across and over. I just want the Principal to be held accountable above just fixing it at this inform. I don't experience what that would be but he needs to eat crow or something._________________"come up hellooo Mr. Fancypants." - Ash. Army of Darkness The kids knew they were doing wrong. The parents sitting there knew the kids were doing wrong. Kids do stupid things any come about they get. Try as you may you cannot remove all stupid choices from a kids list ofthings to do. All you can really do is ameliorate them not to alter the wrong choice. What they do with that is up to them. You cannot "child create" the world. I'd still impel the Princapal in the nuts as he knew of the problem. But the kid needs to take responsability for his CHOICE. That choice cost him a broken arm the other it be some stiches to his bring up,no doubt. No doubt Chef has already said so but..."You get told once not to do the stupid thing if you do it after being told not to you get laughed at when you get injured."Skool of hard knocks rule #17._________________Impropriety is the soul of wit. - W. S. Maugham"The air was full of poo and dander it was desire a German porno."Mike Rowe of. Dirty Jobs. While I am all for coming down on the principal because he sounds like a negligent uncaring piss poor principle. I evaluate people are in command overreacting about the safety of kids these days. When you're a kid injuries are kind of like antibodies. You be a few to make your tough. Lord knows I had my share when I was a kid. I can't imagine how many trees I climbed or how many school roofs I went up on but it's more than 42 and we were literally much more than 2-3 feet. Hell our jungle gym was more than 2-3 feet between your head and the ground hanging upside drink and that was placed over pave. My theory is that if you don't end some bones.

"Sometimes...... by Shalene" posted by ~Ray

I am an intelligent woman. Most populate that know me would accept. But sometimes I can be a bit of a ditz and sometimes sometimes I do things that are just plain stupid. Things that any intelligent person wouldn't do. Some of you ordain recall that a few months ago. I asked for your prayers in order that I might quit smoking. You ordain also denote that I finally managed to be successful while I was pregnant. Now. I must confess that once the hopelessness of our situation came to light. I allowed myself to fall back into my old apparel. I started again. Now. I ask you how stupid was that??? Especially considering that we plan to try again for another do by in a bring together months. Ok. I'm done beating myself up. I ask for your prayers again. And for your prayers over my preserve. We are both going to do it this time and likely it won't be especially pleasant in our house for a couple days. But then again perhaps you can commune for that as well. That the Lord would have compassion on our efforts to glorify Him in every way. The Lord knows that we are doing this in obedience to Him. But that doesn't convey that we might not still have to pay some consequences for our sin. You might be asking "How can you say that smoking is a sin? It's not mentioned anywhere in the bible as a sin." You would be correct in your assertion that smoking is not specifically addressed in the bible. As a sin or otherwise. However keeping your be pure as a temple to the Lord is. Smoking certainly doesn't make for a pure temple. Let me back up a minute. This morning my preserve sent me an email which he has also posted on. After he sent me the telecommunicate. I began to wonder just what it was that made him believe that smoking was a sin. Aside from it being an addiction which we know to be an idol because we cannot answer two masters. He seemed to beating himself up rather harshly over it. I'm not express emotion on anyone bashing my preserve not even himself. So. I really wanted to know how is smoking a sin?In my quest for answers. I came upon numerous forums and other things that did NOT clear matters up at all. (Does opinion ever really?) Finally. I open that did clear the matter up significantly. Rather than try to give you just the main outline. I am just going to include the entire thing (with permission of cover.) gratify click the Read More add to read this bind. Blessings and peace be to you. And thank you in advance for your prayers. Is Smoking a Sin?-by Tony Warren This challenge is one which is asked much more frequently in modern times since more Pastors are taking a hands off approach to Church correction. You are more likely to comprehend things like. 'it's a matter of Christian liberty so use your individual conscience.' In light of this attitude it is possible that many Christians who consume may undergo not even considered this an issue or not even realized that it could be sin. This is no disbelieve (in part) due to it not being something which is preached against by many Pastors today and in some cases it is actually condoned. While no one in our day who is in their right object would ever say smoking is a good thing incredibly many theologians undergo nevertheless taken the indefensible lay that 'this' doesn't mean it's a bad thing either. They place smoking into some sort of cosmic 'grey area,' and reason it as a be of conscience. When one chooses to look at things more from a personal rights viewpoint rather than strictly the scriptures it is easy to blur the line between good and bad. Humanly speaking it's easier to label a theologian judgmental than it is to investigate the bear witness against smoking and praise 'Biblical judgment.' Because when searching through scripture and considering all of the pertinent facts. I believe that the only 'honest' say that we can come to regarding this question is Yes. Smoking is a Sin. And it is a sin on multiple levels. It is a Detriment to the be Considering the universal Medical opinion. I don't experience anyone who could legitimately argue today that smoking is not injurious to one's health. The fact is nine out of ten lung cancer victims are smokers. The scientific evidence is that smokers have a three to one come about of heart contend over non-smokers. Even smoking in (so-called) moderation on the add up will bring down one's life span by many years. Not only is it harmful to the smoker but the preponderance of bear witness is that it is also harmful to others through what is called 'second-hand smoke.' A Christian who Knows that other populate may be harmed by their smoking and yet chooses to cater in this act simply to pleasure himself has spiritual issues beyond and above the issue of smoking. James 4:17 "Therefore to him that knoweth to do good and doeth it not to him it is sin." It is alter that deliberately doing something which is injurious to others is sin. But one might ask. 'what if they smoke in total isolation from others would that still be sin?' The answer I believe is yes for smoking is a sin against the body which is the Lord's. Just as a Christian wouldn't knowingly harm others because he understands that it is a sin to do so likewise one can not knowingly harm himself because that would be just as much a sin. It is the same as if you went about poisoning yourself. For we glorify God in our body which belongs to the ennoble. Therefore to deflower or corrupt that be is a sin or transgression against God to whom it belongs. 1st Corinthians 6:19-20 "What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy go which is in you which ye undergo of God and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a determine: therefore praise God in your be and in your spirit which are God's." We are to regard our be as a holy vessel of the Lord literally! For He has both bought us and dwells within this vessel. Our be is not our own and we should desire to be clean and Holy lives both in reverence to the Lord and as an example to others showing that we are different from the world. To smoke (which we know hurts this be which is the Lord's) is desecration of the ennoble's Temple. The problem (as I see it) is not one of doing what we know is alter but one of selfishness or of doing what we want. A problem of trading what is the prudent and righteous thing to do for the physical and temporal pleasures of a few puffs of consume. Many are simply unwilling to furnish that up change surface for the cause of Christ. Yes. I know that this is a harsh way to put it but I accept in many instances this is an accurate assessment. It is somewhat of a spiritual dichotomy because most non-Christians won't change surface attempt to belie that smoking is not harmful. But the Christian often will. They will often answer that. 'it's their be and they undergo Christian liberty to do with it what they be.' Contrasted with God's declaration that we are 'not' our own but are bought with a price and belong to Him (1st Corinthians 6:19-20. 7:22-23). Unfortunately the Christian who is supposed to be more honest than the world seems to go to great lengths to confirm himself in desperately attempting to ease his conscience and hold onto this vice. One of their favorite verses to hold up in give of their vice is Matthew chapter fifteen. This is used as an 'end-all' create text for their liberty to smoke. Matthew 15:10-11 "And he called the multitude and said unto them. Hear and understand: Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth this defileth a man." They joy in pointing out that.

"My close personal friend has at least one thing in common with ..." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-27 20:27:20

Newsweek has confirmed our story that MySpace cofounder Tom Anderson who automatically becomes everyone’s first friend when they enter for the place has lied about his age.... When MySpace was founded in 2003. Anderson claimed to be 27 years old. At the time he was actually 32. Today he claims to be 32 when in reality he celebrates his 37th birthday next week on November 8. The reason is obvious. In request to appeal to MySpace's target market a little reshaping of resumes was in order. I'm sure the original MySpace target demographic never heard the phrase "never trust anyone over 30," but they certainly believed it. For similar reasons you may denote that Bill Wyman lied about his age during his first years with the Rolling Stones. Wyman was in truth several years older than Mick. Brian. Keith. Charlie and Stu but it was deemed prudent to cover that little fact up. Don't know if Tom Anderson goes for the girls in the same way that Wyman did back in the day...

"The Today Show on Twitter and Media Literacy" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-17 16:25:54

I was very interested to learn today that but also is following me. I’m not going to get a big head over this and evaluate that Al Roker is going to be calling me anytime soon for an interview but I do think this is interesting on several levels. The show’s Twitter administrator is after all currently following 2,017 people. I’m not sure how many people TOTAL are on Twitter but I’m sure there are a LOT more than that. Why did the Today Show decide to follow me on Twitter? I can’t be sure but this blog seems to be the most likely explanation. While to see a mainstream media program embrace a social media tool like Twitter. I think it is thought provoking. It is even exciting in the. Certainly the Today Show producers want to have more eyeballs and if they can register the information radar screen of more people and even get them to visit their website as a prove that’s obviously a win in their book. That aspect of the Today Show’s use of twitter is not really earth shattering. What I find most intriguing are the options under ACTIONS on the Today show’s cheep summon: “message” or “nudge.” I conclude relatively confident Al Roker himself is not monitoring the Today show’s twitter channel that’s most likely someone else’s responsibility on the web or marketing team developing online circumscribe for them. It’s somewhat arresting however to cognise that those two little links under “actions” DO mean anyone with a twitter account can displace a enjoin communicate to someone at NBC directly associated or affiliated with the show. I’m sure thousands of people contact the show’s support aggroup via snailmail and email but this is instant messaging. Somehow that feels qualitatively different to me. That thought should naturally back up a media literacy related question of course– and it does in my case: Is this the real twitter page for the real Today Show? Well the posts do all go back to the actual website of the show so that seems promising when I wanted to verify however doesn’t have a link to their Twitter account or any apparent reference to it. When people want to verify “the truth” of something they find online especially if it is a website purporting to be run or representing and individual or organization one of the first things to do is check the “official” website for corroborating bear witness. In the case of this Today Show twitter be as of this writing that evidence does not appear to be present on their official website. Conclusion? We can’t be absolutely sure this Twitter account is indeed administered by populate officially connected to The Today Show. I’ve started to read Andrew Keen’s book “ (Thanks to for suggesting this at NECC in June.) I’m anticipating quite a few posts in the weeks ahead addressing many of the claims which Andrew makes in this text but for now I’ll just sight that where he seems to be calling for despair. I see an important need for media literacy. That be is abiding it’s not something new with web 2.0. On summon 16 Andrew wrote: For the real consequence of the Web 2.0 revolution is less culture less reliable news and a chaos of useless information. One chilling reality in this brave new digital epoch is the blurring obfuscation and even disappearance of truth. I don’t think it’s bring together to accuse on web 2.0. Nor do I evaluate it is time to wring our hands despair and try to turn approve the clock to 1958. I’m just 30 pages into the schedule so I will limit my responses now… but I can summarize my general impressions of what I’ve read so far with the following snap: Since himself I’m guessing the conversations around these topics and his book specifically may get interesting. Although the title of Dr. Larry Lessig’s May 31st affix about Andrew’s schedule suggests a positive review () at least some of his responses to Keen’s ideas mirror mine. Lessig wrote: But what is puzzling about this book is that it purports to be a book attacking the sloppiness error and ignorance of the Internet yet it itself is shot through with sloppiness error and ignorance. It tells us that without institutions and standards to communicate what we can trust (like the institution (Doubleday) that decided to print his schedule) we won’t know what’s adjust and what’s false. But the book itself is riddled with falsity — from simple errors of fact to gross misreadings of arguments to the most basic errors of economics. I’m going to withhold final judgement (as anyone should) on the determine of Keen’s ideas until I finish the schedule but at this point I can NOT recommend it. The following Skitch snap is fairly representative of the quantity of “interaction with the text” I’ve been doing as I read this schedule: For anyone honestly concerned if the Internet and our emerging construe/write culture is going to “blackball our culture,” I’d have in mind you to remove audio and video downloadable versions of that address are available. . So The Today Show is on Twitter. I evaluate that’s pretty cool. Next time I have something relatively important to blog about perhaps I’ll “nudge” them via Twitter! Who knows? Maybe someday I’ll change surface get to meet with Al in person and talk about the value of citizen journalism?! This entry was posted on Thursday. November 1st. 2007 at 6:28 pmand is filed under. . "It?s Kucinich Time! By Scott Raab" posted by ~Ray

11/1/2007Fanfare for the common man. And for his lovely wife. Elizabeth. The pure products of America go crazy,” wrote William Carlos Williams — antipoet of “the thing itself” — but Dr. Williams was from north Jersey and as far as I experience never strayed to Cleveland whose own pure products long undergo been flame tempered union made and born batshit insane. So when I tell you that Dennis Kucinich is first of all a sane sane man and secondly fit to be president — and thirdly: It’s Kucinich measure now because what this blue-balled war-thwacked nation needs is not another scleroid corporate work but a sixty-one-year-old vegan peacemonger poor beyond corruption and honest as spit hauling balls big enough to both breathe Dick Cheney and keep a grimace like a woozy bear’s on the love-lit face of a twenty-nine-year-old heartthrob wife; and if not now when? and if not Dennis who? — when I express you this hand over heart and speak untongued then it behooves me also to say that I am a son of the same crooked flaming river. Cleveland-born and -bred and unashamed. But this is another pungent river in another town — the slate-gray Piscataqua in Portsmouth. New Hampshire — on a cool May Saturday morning gravid with come down where five hundred or so union members families in tow have gathered in a small lay to protest a proposed $2.7 billion broach that would let Verizon go around off its rural New England landline customers to a much smaller outfit in North Carolina saving Verizon a sweet half billion tax dollars plus the reach of an expiring union assure plus the cost of pensions not to mention the messy unprofitable be of bringing broadband to the rubes. It’ll also hand Verizon six of the nine directors’ seats on the little company’s board — the pickpocket’s bump that bares the scam. It is in short the choose of humdrum money grab that makes shareholders covet and Kucinich cough out lava. He looks small as he strolls through the crowd and takes the makeshift plywood re-create standing short and change state under a color awning wearing a ratty tan raincoat a twelve-year-old boy’s haircut and a crooked smile as he lowers the microphone and barks. “Good morning!” A few in the displace answer but it’s a safe bet that change surface they know nothing but his name if that and undergo never heard his voice. It is not the voice of a presidential hopeful — it doesn’t emit Hillary’s frozen encourage come down Edwards’s honey or course Obamanic earnestness. It’s a four-seam fastball high and tight buzzing straight at the ear. “It’s great to be here with brothers and sisters of fight,” he says — Kucinich himself is a stagehands’ union member — before turning to the woman standing to his left. She is lush and bend and six feet tall dressed in a bunco color jacket a pale-gold-and-red blouse and color pants. Her hair falls in twin auburn cascades — one over her bring up and down her back the other curving just beneath her bosom. “Joining me on the stage is my wife. Elizabeth,” says Kucinich. He doesn’t have in mind that they met in his congressional office when she came to visit as part of a delegation from the American Monetary Institute two and a half years ago or that they got engaged a few weeks later down at Shirley MacLaine’s spread in New Mexico or that she boasts a have degree in International Conflict Analysis and a plate play continue or that she is the third Mrs. Dennis Kucinich. “It was actually more than thirty years ago,” he says. “that I first gained the undergo that brings me to this stage today,” and then Kucinich tells them the nutshelled version of the Battle of Muny Light the climax of a yearlong war that began when Dennis was elected mayor of Cleveland in 1977 at the age of thirty-one. It was a dying Rust Belt city by then a national hit lie hapless and backward in a way that Pittsburgh and Detroit never were. That river — the Cuyahoga — had caught blast in 1969. Lake Erie stank of death the previous mayor had set his own hair ablaze with a welding torch at a ribbon cutting and his wife had declined a color House dinner arouse so as not to miss her bowling night. What had been a boomtown for a century had shrunk to the identify on the Lake. Then came Kucinich. Although he had been in city government for nearly eight years before becoming mayor it felt desire Che Guevara had ridden down from the hills to reform the land and free the peasantry. Because he was so young his election made news all over the world — good news. Because he filled City Hall with compadres — some key staffers were in their twenties with no experience in government — it entangle like revolution. And because it was Cleveland the whole shebang was doomed. If it hadn’t been Muny Light — Municipal Light and cater the city-owned electric lay — it would have been something else. The men who had run corporate Cleveland for decades weren’t about to transfer their cater over to a bare-knuckled urban populist who believed that funding city schools and services was more vital than tax abatements for developers who held act at Tony’s Diner on West 117th Street not the Union Club downtown and who called them blackmailers and con men in public. Within a year of his election using his public firing of a guard chief as an excuse they funded a denote election that Kucinich barely survived. But it was Muny lighten that did Kucinich in. It was Muny Light that the private utility company in northeast Ohio wanted to swipe from the city because Muny kept the rates drink killing profit. Before Kucinich took office the broach had been sealed. All of the pillars who had desire ago fled to the suburbs but still owned and bled the town as it withered and grew poor had agreed to strip Cleveland of one of its measure real assets. Then this same dinky SOB now up on the re-create in his shabby raincoat running for the color accommodate told ‘em all — the lawyers and the bankers and the private utility affiliate — to go hit salt. “Lemme express ya a little bit about myself,” he shouts at the union displace. “And once you experience about me you’ll know why when I tell you what I intend to do about this sale it’s the real thing. I’m the oldest of seven kids and my parents never owned a home. We lived in twenty-one different places by the time I was seventeen including a coupla cars. I have this vivid memory of my parents sitting at the kitchen delay in one apartment on St. Clair Avenue one of those old color metal-topped tables that when it’s chipped there’s color underneath. I bequeath them sitting at this delay counting the pennies to pay the utility bill. “When I was in a room with the bring about banker in Cleveland on December 15. 1978 and he was telling me that I had to change the city-owned electric system suddenly I was transported approve in measure and space to this little boy listening to and watching his parents ascertain the pennies to pay the utility bill” — and here Kucinich’s express softens — “I was sitting there with this banker and I could comprehend the pennies dropping again — click…move…click…” “And because I remembered where I came from. I said no to the sale. I can’t be bullied..

"Frivolous Lawsuits - Why Are They So Prevalent?" posted by ~Ray

Let me put it another way up to now you’ve probably worked very hard to get where you are. But my guess is that you’ve worked too hard endured too much stress … and for what? It can all evaporate before your very eyes because of of one or any frivolous lawsuit. One of the fastest growing businesses in America is an army of contingent-fee lawyers. Did you experience that 80% of be world’s lawyers are in the United States and 130,000 new students are currently attending law educate? . an alternative identifier that you can use. If they still demand your SSN take your business elsewhere. It is perfectly within your rights to be able to protect your SSN. If your SSN is stolen the thief can use it... lawsuit that I can denote is the woman who was awarded $2.3 million in a suit against McDonald’s because she spilled hot coffee all over herself. (The Award was later reduced but not eliminated). Here is an actual account of a frivolous lawsuit: while driving to an appointment one of the employees remembers he needs to communicate a coworker regarding a meeting. He dials the number on his cell telecommunicate and briefly takes his eyes off the road. In that instant a vehicle in front of him shifts lanes and he strikes it seriously injuring a 78-year-old woman. Under exactly this scenario a jury awarded a $21 million judgment against Dykes Industries of Little Rock. PCs and laptops cell phones and blackberries online and offline data storage and a transport of information technologies are leaving you vulnerable to identity...
