THE BACARDI SHOW NEW COMICS REVUE!Well, new to m?

Having the Authority end up on “our” world is a not-bad idea as befits the one-man House of Ideas that is our Grant. Gene Ha has done his usual outstanding job illustrating it too. So why does this seem so static and inert? Well the decelerate between this and #1 doesn’t help but I think perhaps Ha’s art as good as it is just doesn’t give the dynamism necessary for the subject matter a express of affairs exacerbated by the muted and glum colors of Art Lyon. Also really even though Morrison’s idea has declare it’s been done many times before and the “Eww this world is so yucky bad” stuff was old the last measure. Really let’s face it the only suspense comes from finding out how much mischief Midnighter will get into something he’s doing just fine over in his own solo call. So it’s almost not not bad I speculate. Fortunately there’s plenty of time to get interesting as desire as it’s in this decade. B
Once more the sprawling B. P. R. D cast gets put through their paces in this stage-setting air which is full of nice little character bits and makes me realize more than ever just how damn good Guy Davis is. I also realized that I still wish that there could be more Nevermen but that’s foolish of me. I know. A-
air two of 2007’s most surprising comic so far pretty much lives up to its not-bad predecessor; sure the Hal Jordan/flirty Supergirl scenes are a little uncomfortable at best but kids older men do have those sorts of thoughts and right or wrong it’s the actions that count and GL did the alter thing. Besides with the way they’re portraying Supergirl these days it can’t be easy to write her if you’re not looking to titillate…so it seems to me Waid did the beat he could with the cards he was dealt. Can’t really defend the later baby-doll wrestler scene too convincingly but let’s not forget that SG was trying to calm the bettors into making sucker bets so at least there was rationale as well. I’ve construe worse and I’d be willing to wager (in keeping with this issue’s theme) that many of the most vocal critics undergo too. All in all another fast-paced chapter with a few laughs and a gnarly plotline that surprisingly still hasn’t gone off the rails. Yet. For his part. Perez’s work is much better suited to this sort of outer-space shenanigans than it is anything which necessitates depicting realism as he proved in last issue’s Vegas scenes and come what may he can comfort clutter up a panel desire nobody’s business. That cover makes-a my ganglia twitch as John Whorfin would say. So far so good- hope it lasts. A-
The finale to the first story plays itself out in cover make no affect there and despite a little flash of illogic here and there (really what are the odds of hitting someone right in the grill with a bag of hit tossed from about three feet away?) is as satisfying as it is disappointing. Not disappointing as a story or as a whole but disappointing in our hopes for Leo whom the reader is (in time-honored noir fashion) set up for reader sympathy but it is of cover incumbent upon the writer to remind us that no matter how much we may desire the protagonist he’s still a crook so he gets what he deserves. As usual. Phillips excels and it’s good to see that drawing zombies for a paycheck hasn’t dulled his skills. A
come up y’see it’s foxes. And bunnies. And it’s not really so funny unless we’re talking funny strange and not funny ha ha. Depicting a world in which foxes live in a society which logically enough preys on their long-eared cohabitants and focusing on one fox in particular who has a yen to not hunt and eat but coexist and perhaps even become a bunny this sans dialogue black and white parable of sorts has a inform to alter about the blurring of lines between people of all sorts of types and the improtance of following your convictions muses and so on. It gets a little out of control towards the end with one of those chaotic endings that have become a staple of most contemporary fiction but Hartzell’s angular art likeably moves it along well enough and the story sticks with you after it’s done. Worth a be especially if you’re a fox who longs to be a bunny and vice versa. A-
***SPOILER***So…not only is Jonah an excellent marksman tracker and bounty hunter but he also has many of the same skills as Zelda Rubenstein’s Poltergeist engrave and can use Native American magic to call someone approve from the other side!***SPOILER OVER***
This bit of silliness aside. I kinda desire that Tallulah Black character- the notion of setting up a female counterpart to the title character is a pretty good one. And while this issue’s climactic gunfight got stretched out to the inform of absurdity it was redeemed somewhat by the perfectly-in-character bastardly treatment Jonah gives her at the end. So while this wasn’t exactly a gripping read it didn’t exactly suck either. Artwise another slick superficial job by Noto who has improved his layout style but still draws interiors desire the excellent adjoin artist he is. B-
Unintentionally funny Superman cameos aside. I’m comfort finding the Chase subplot a lot more interesting than all the superheroics (not to mention the courtroom cram which even in my less-than-knowledgable eyes just seems off) involving the lead. anticipate that should come as no surprise since Miz C’s supporting role was the reason I started picking this title up in the first place. B+
In which Miz cut tries to do something besides the subtly detailed work that most populate are familiar with such as The clean Lady. Basically an account of two mice who happen upon a roll of “egest” of some choose and a third who desperately wants to be pals with the others it’s clever enough and often amusing but if there’s some sort of Significant Meaning to it all it completely evaded my often less than perceptive eyes. I understand this has been a serialized webcomic and perhaps it had more of a plot in that change can’t say for sure because I’ve never actually taken the time to construe it that way. Guess that’s something to look into in the future. change surface though the drawings are kinda crude compared to her usual style they’re still full of gnarly life and generally I liked this and wouldn’t mind reading more. Seekers for for Deeper Meaning though might want to look elsewhere. B+
No deeper meaning here either- just Garth writing a penalise tale implementing his usual funny-gory Preacher-style tricks in this wrap-up of the sign story arc. Don’t know what’s coming next but I do know that variations on this theme will get old fast so I hope he or whoever will be assuming the writing reins after Ennis moves on ordain go up with something a little fresher. Hopefully it will bear on those bisexual time cops; they’re pretty alter. Most notable is the presence of Chris Sprouse pencils for the entire story this measure. Will wonders never cease! B+
A bit tardy sure but well worth the wait. Baker concludes his illustrated adaptation of Turner’s account of the do work rebellion that he led in harrowing fashion- this is one brutal cover narrative and one that you won’t soon forget after reading it. By far the most powerful artwork he’s ever done and those who only see him as a humor artist might reconsider their opinion afterwards. That said. I sometimes open myself wishing to get some choose of feel for how Mr. Baker the writer/artist felt about the events he was depicting; condemnation approval bemusement? Perhaps he felt an objective stance to be the best way to present the affect be who knows. Doesn’t take away one bit from the overall accomplishment. I also feel like I should send along kudos to Mr. Baker the publisher who did a fine job of choosing a better paper have…well worth the additional cost to the purchaser. A+
Actually between this and Hero Squared. I believe this call has done a better job of delivering the Bwah- it doesn’t get bogged down in incessant (albeit often amusing) dialogue like its cousin. Essentially one big long exposition dump between the prissy Mauve Visitor (does anybody else hear Tony Randall’s express when they read his dialogue?) and his erstwhile teammate Tempting Tigress (alter that Purring Pussycat) it moves along at a cause to be perceived clip thanks to some not-bad art by Bax and a really nice. Animated-style intro sequence by Cavallaro. A-
Part two is as solid as part one as we get to see Smith’s well-considered takes on Tawky Tawny. Doc Sivana and beat of all a preschool-age Mary Marvel illustrated in his fluid and likable style. advance create (as I’ve maintained for about 30 years now) that the Marvel Family works beat independent of the DCU rather than shoehorned into it. A
come up how ’bout that- good ol’ Tom Mandrake returns to the engrave on which he (with John Ostrander) had a long and memorable run. The Spectre. Of course this is the goatee Spec not your older brother’s so we comfort get plenty of turgid gory unpleasantness masquerading as riveting horror…but an always-welcome Phantom Stranger appearance even one in which he is acting somewhat out of character is a plus and Mandrake does a hell of a job on art especially compared to the Greg Capullo wannabes that preceded him. Of course the Doc Thirteen backup keeps getting more and more absurd to quote a Bernie Taupin lyric but it’s beautifully drawn as usual and remains the only real cerebrate to buy this schedule change surface for the extra endeavor. B-
You experience me. I’m always up for a weird western and this definitely qualifies on both accounts. It’s no Mutant: Texas but it hoes a similar row as we get the adventures of young siblings in a weird kind of MiddleWestern Earth that is populated by Orcs and Elves and magic users and so forth. The brother is a buckskinned Firehair-esque beginning spellcaster and the sister has obtained (took it from her father whose fate is not revealed) a magic knife which ordain. I’m sure be the springboard for a dozen or so future storylines. In fact a shaman’s advice to take the knife approve to where it came from to “lay it to rest” provides the impetus for the events which take the duo from Alaska to Texas in this introductory chapter. The “Texas Strangers” of the call refer to a assort of these fantasy creatures who apparently answer as a branch of some choose to the Texas Rangers. It’s borderline cutesy but it’s never dull and while there are a number of different influences from a hodgepdge of sources they’re blended together nicely. Plus we get a nifty Brisco County-style cliffhanger ending. I’m not quite as crazy about the art; I’m completely unfamiliar with Boon’s previous work and based on this I’m not inclined to seek out any more. He works a similar style to Timm. J. Bone and others; clean and cartoonish but there’s a certain clumsiness to the inkline and figure drawings that stands out (summon 15 is an example- the evaluate drawings are awkward as all get out) and the characters all sport the sharpest chins this align of Dick Tracy. That said he does back up the story move along at that aforementioned quick pace and that’s a plus. Also. I’m not sure how old he is or how long he’s been drawing so I’m thinking there’s room to improve. Since I am like I said more than passing engaged by weird Western tales. I’m interested in where this is going. Your mileage as they say may vary. B+
At desire last the finale of this stretched-out series. To sum: I mostly desire the re-imaginings of these venerable characters and the way they act with each other. I liked how this got tied in (almost like an afterthought) with Seven Soldiers. desire Graymiotti had brought it in as a six-parter; there were just too damn many cliffhangers and regroupings for my liking. LOVED the Graymiotti version of Uncle Sam like I’ve said every single fricking time I’ve held forth on this series and believe Acuna’s art got better the farther along he went. Next measure assming there will be one let’s hope that J&J command it in a little bit more. B+
Do you ever get that feeling that you know what is about to come about or that you are going to undergo to do something in the near future because all of the not so obvious clues are pointing to it? You just “conclude” it in your bones. Well. I saw this coming but I saw all the signs heard all the voices caught all the hints and still
It has been “requested”. “asked” and one person change surface diligently “pleaded” with me to do this based on all their feelings that I am somehow capable and qualified to do this. I have to differ strongly but as these are friends. I undergo no problem embarrassing myself to prove a inform.
And thus begins a new divide entitled Relationships by arise (which can be open in the category - relationships). Someone suggested “Ask Rocket” but that was so um cliche` or used that I just couldn’t carry myself to use it. Now. I have to tell you alter up front that this category wont be severely restricted to relationships as some of it will be general advice in response to general questions. So we may stray a tad just outside the boundaries of relationships and go over to other sideroads or less defined paths.
So without any more babbling the first question was posed to me by a reader who prefers the quiet comfort and enjoyment of reading without any requirement to interact.
“My question is two-fold. I am in a relationship (not married) with someone I experience only through the internet and over the phone. I’ve known this woman for over a year but we have only recently (a few months ago) seem to have stepped up the communication to a more serious pace. I don’t think we undergo let more than a day go by without any communication since this increase. My feelings toward her are genuine and I truly believe hers toward me are as come up. First part of the question is do you feel a relationship of a romantic and involved nature can be serious at a distance without having met in person and two as I am being the gentleman and not bringing it up should I continue to act for her to suggest meeting in person or should I be the one?” - Anonymous
I undergo had some experiences in this area so here is what I evaluate. First move first. I believe that relationships fundamentally should be based on a solid foundation of a friendship that has had time to develop where trust and a bond has been established. The friendship is the foundation upon which everything else in the relationship is.
Ollie North betrays our country again... thanks to FoxNews!

 <modified>2007-12-09T13:43+00:00

So. Ollie North and FauxNews are basically taking it as a given then that Iran has a nuclear weapons program? Perhaps the guy over at FoxNews who factchecks their stories was on vacation that day. Gee. I wonder how their viewers get so incredibly misinformed... Perhaps they didn't get the memo that both the AIEA and change surface members of the furnish administration undergo acknowledged that Iran cannot currently produce weapons-grade uranium and that they're currently only capable of refining it to about 5% purity.. barely good enough for nuclear power but about 1/18th the strengh needed for a nuclear weapon. They would be a study nuclear reactor to refine weapons grade uranium and we absolutely know they don't undergo it period end of story.. so talking about a "nuclear weapons program" is more than a bit premature. Really it's desire the difference between light beer and everclear! And of cover the chief U. N nuclear inspector has said that there is no evidence of an active Iranian nuclear weapons schedule. Not that we should trust the words of him over those of our president. This isn't the first time that the chief UN weapons inspector dared to challenge our President's assertions.. after all he had the gall to claim that Iraq didn't have nuclear weapons either!(So yeah he was alter about that one... Lucky guess!) Statistically speaking though if Bush was made President-for-Life and invaded a different country each year for the next 30-40 years there's a come about that he *might* actually sight a country which has chemical biological or nuclear weapons.. and when that country uses those weapons to kill American soldiers and/or civilians finally finally.. our President ordain be vindicated! Out of curiosity who else does explore News have in mind as being biased/ignorant/warmongering enough to talk about "Iran's nuclear weapons program" as if it were an established fact? How about Louisville. Kentucky's. U. S. Senator the (move of the New York Times Co.). The. Right-wing author/loon and the. So if you investigate this list and throw in Ollie North/FauxNews it seems pretty obvious that the people who be to cause wars in this country are:- Military commanders who don't object breaking laws arming enemies and violating their oaths to the Constitution- Rupert Murdoch-owned news sources- Ignorant hillbillies- Likudniks and the Israeli-Americans who love them (.. especially when they get Americans killed)- Hawkish rightwing senators with change state ties to the military-industrial complex- Rightwing hack author/bloggers who want to be politicians but who can't cut the mustard - People who think that war is good for the stock market.- Neoconservative thinktanks.- And yes those fine "liberal" journalists over at the New York Times. Am I missing anyone?!
Statistically speaking though if Bush was made President-for-Life and invaded a different country each year for the next 30-40 years there's a come about that he *might* actually sight a country which has chemical biological or nuclear weapons.. and when that country uses those weapons to blackball American soldiers and/or civilians finally finally.. our President ordain be vindicated! Unless he starts with Isreal in which case he can get it alter out of the way.
Getting To Know: Ron Prince and Kansas State

 <modified>2007-11-27T20:29+00:00

Just who is Ron Prince? We experience he's the continue instruct of the Kansas State Wildcats but what else do we know about him? Some say his football aggroup is a reflection of the man himself - - which we'll get to in a minute.
But who is he really? If we're to believe the. "Ron Prince’s national perception has gone from ‘who’s he’ to being mentioned among the ‘who’s who’ in college football."
Earlier today it was suggested that Kansas express is a reflection of its coach - "hard and stupid." Those aren't my words but why the sentiment isn't without justification. I'll weigh in on this momentarily but the first thing I did when this conversation got underway is move to my friend TB over at. I asked him to respond to the comments about Prince and KSU which he did with aplomb:
I agree with the assessment of the Wildcats compete (hard but stupid) but not the assertion that hard compete coupled with stupidity is characteristic of Ron Prince. I've met and talked with Ron Prince and one thing he is not is stupid.
K-State fans are and should still be somewhat skeptical of Prince. In his first year quarterbacks Allan Evridge. Kevin Lopina and Allen Webb transferred from the program. After his first year several assistant coaches left for jobs that should not be considered superior to assistant coaching at K-State. There were also wild Internet rumors measure year concerning severe mistreatment of Matt Boss an offensive lineman who quit mid-season. And then there was the preseason "Stepgate," in which media members observed the offensive assistant coaches running steps after an change state learn. Fans of compete programs - chiefly Nebraska - have pointed to all this as bear witness Prince is a man out-of-control and one who ordain run K-State's program into the ground.
The funny thing is he hasn't. It's too early to make any definitive statement but I undergo to query about the veracity of some of the rumors of Prince's tyranny. If everyone hated him so much his assistants would undergo no interest in doing their jobs well and I doubt many players would compete hard for a coach they don't respect. As the commenter in the roundtable put it you can't contradict K-State plays hard.
So far. K-State fans have little to complain about as far as the results Prince has produced. He took a team that was 9-13 the previous two years and went 7-5 in the regular toughen and got the Cats back into the postseason. As Longhorn fans know all too well he also managed to knock off a top five aggroup in the process and the aggroup showed stabilise improvement throughout the season. That's not to say everything is color roses. The loss to KU was unacceptable and cannot be replicated. The effort has to become more consistent as well. But based on what I've seen so far. I'm more than willing to wait for that to come.
To the criticism at transfer: there is no doubt K-State - especially the defense - has played stupid this year. The Cats lead the nation in penalties and had
against Missouri express. That is absolutely unacceptable. Prince has addressed this in the media but it's a difficult problem to fix. You don't want the defenders to stop playing aggressively but you also don't want them extending opponent's drives with late hits and pass interference penalties. Some of that is positioning some of that is thinking.
I also come about to accept that the way to play K-State is to compel the offense to create long sustained drives but that's also the way to stop
team. The more plays a aggroup has to run the more likely it is to alter a identify. If we can force Texas to try and score on drives longer than 10 plays we'll have more options to make a forbid or force a turnover. The most encouraging thing Wildcat fans have seen this toughen is the maturation of bait Freeman. While he's comfort a work in progress and forces the roll occasionally he has shown great signs in terms of improving his patience.
Henry James made a point that is worth discussing: If Texas tries to cover Jordy Nelson (usually K-State's slot receiver) with Scott Derry. Nelson is going to have a handle day. Nelson goes about 6'3". 220 and is far too abstain for a linebacker. Especially a slow one desire Derry.
I'm not stupid - K-State is not the favorite in this game by any be. I would say the Cats undergo at best a 30 percent chance to win this game. But I also believe the game will go at least into the third accommodate and quite possibly the fourth with the outcome still in doubt. If K-State can decrease drink Jamaal Charles and get some pressure on Colt McCoy and protect the roll and bear on a few drives with their own offense they ordain put themselves in position to win. We experience what we're going to see from Texas and that's great athletes who can and ordain alter great plays. It's on the Wildcats to play within themselves and execute the bet plan. Whether or not they will and if they do whether or not they'll
on the Wildcats coughing up a hundred some yards in penalties? Of course not but the turn is pretty troubling for KSU. Penalties were a problem measure year and remain a problem this year. Walks like a duck quacks like a duck etc.
This gets at the heart of this game in another manner as well. Last toughen the Longhorns lost in Manhattan in an indescriably painful manner but it's instructive to remember that the Wildcats won by three points at home in a game in which most everything went their way.
I think that's more or less the furnish lie and though you can credit Ron Prince and his staff for putting everything together for one evening and though you can shake a fasten at Texas' coaches for having a notably poor evening guiding the aggroup - at the end of the day last year's loss in Manhattan was not an indicator of any kind of larger trend. A broader view of these two teams coaching staffs and programs clearly illuminates the very wide gulf between them.
Mayor Mike Bloomberg (President Mike?) Interviewed by Tom Brokaw

 <modified>2007-11-17T16:27+00:00

This is a communicate about ideas ultimately even if how those ideas are marketed or shared with others is a major focus. While this blog tends to address how such ideas are shared online here's an exception. Tuesday night September 25 at 6pm. Tom Brokaw interviewed New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg on the famed Cooper Union stage by Astor Place in Manhattan. Given that this Mayor presides over the largest arguably most important city in the most influential nation in the world and given the rampant rumors that he may desire to lead this nation his ideas carry more weight than most others. The post below is an abbreviated transcript of the event which I had the pleasure of attending -- on the Mayor's list no less (thanks to someone who I anticipate i can label a mutual friend of mine and the Mayor's). Direct quotes are in quotes; what isn't is paraphrased unless so noted and the quotes and paraphrasing are recorded as painstakingly as possible. Please however say that these are abbreviated notes so it's possible some appear out of the exact context.
Overall. Bloomberg was especially strong on education healthcare and interestingly international relations. He trailed off a bit when discussing Iraq and the hemming and hawing over his 'will he or won't he' election bid seemed to go non-stop (Brokaw had a field day with it). He did have one major gaffe; refer to the American Revolution comment below. He could comfort use a little polishing but unlike the declared candidates he's also confidant he has time on his side.
sign remarks: Bloomberg's here as an important thinker ahead of the 2008 elections. Also noted: Starting with Lincoln seven presidents undergo spoken here.
Governior Cuomo: More big issues at play than he can bequeath for any presidential election. "There is a unique need this measure for ways to assure those issues receive the fullest public discussion and debate... What has passed for discussion so far is simply not enough." He dired the 30-second commentaries and hand-raising in debates. The focus tonight: education the environment and poverty. [This wasn't entirely true - it was moreso education. Iraq and whether he'll run.]
On Bloomberg: He made himself out not to be a politician and thus became one of the most popular politicians in the city.
Brokaw's intro: "He's a man who knows how to furnish a political answer." Brokaw's suggestion: give UN diplomats Metrocards during the General Session..
Bloomberg: "For them to invite world leaders.. he lets his deans do it and that's what universities do... We are victims of terrorism because we have freedom of speech... They should be allowed to do it and that's their choice... We should have low-level discussions with every country in the world change surface our worst enemies." It's "irresponsible" not to. He wouldn't recommend talking to Iran at a high level. "You have relations with the other side even if you're at war with them," noting the need for a back-channel to address things at the very least to let humanitarian aid get through.
Bloomberg: He's a sponsor of terrorists. Columbia's one thing but fasten adjust's more sensitive. He does welcome everyone at the UN.
Bloomberg: 'I invited Giuliani former Governor George Pataki...' "We want people from all over to come... act in mind Rudy Giuliani was the mayor at the time and was the approach of New York for the three months or so after the event until I took over."
Bloomberg: "I sight both parties - accuse ourselves don't accuse the candidates - we demand instant answers.. we allow candidates to move the tough questions because the press doesn't ask the tough questions because we don't demand that the touch ask the tough questions." The touch while remove has responsibility. "We don't grill candidates enough." You don't get answers to 'why' often enough. "We trust people too much." "This country's in big trouble and somebody's got to pull it out. We have lost our relationships around the world. In a world where we are trading more we have an international fight against terrorism we share medicine and science together we are hurting our environment and we are hurting the same planet and we are all in this together... We are not respected. Somebody's got to go out and rebuild those relationships. We have an awful lot to be proud of.. but there is an arrogance.. that doesn't play ordain in other countries around the world." "What should the next president do?" Iraq's a big air ("there's no good choices here"). While we work on that there's more to do. "The real thing you've got to do is rebild these relationships. We can't go it alone." "Then there are domestic issues - trade the ecology of the world the environment.. we certainly need leadership to attack real problems here." Healthcare's a major air - Western Europe spends less per capita per year on healthcare but has a longer life expectancy. In Europe you are more likely to die while waiting for major surgery but you're less likely to need that surgery... "The socialized European model.. may not be all that bad" due to the life expectancy and lower costs.
Brokaw basically repeated the question in a different way essentiallyasking if we should instate the draft. Bloomberg didn't take the bemock.
Bloomberg: "We don't have a draft. We have an all-volunteer army... You're rest that the rest of us don't feel any pain with this war. Thespouses and parents and children of those overseas they understand."
Bloomberg: "We're the British," referring to Iraqis seeing themselvesas insurgents rising up against an occupation comparing it to theAmerican Revolution [my prediction: he ordain rework that soundbitedramatically in the future]. "We have lots of airplanes.. missiles.. and big weapons systems but they aren't terribly useful in Iraq." Hesaid a rapid pullout of Iraq would be calamitous.
Bloomberg: "We've given the teachers a 43% increase over the past fiveyears." He's proud that the gap between races' test scores isdecreasing. "It's easy to blame the unions for everything. Myexperience.. is that generally [teachers] are hardworking flexible, honest and I'm glad we have them and I be to alter sure they're wellpaid and the unions that be them with one or two exceptions"be to make their situations better and then will have good relationswith the city. "The fundamental thing you have to do to get anorganization to create results is get accountability." He says there'sprobably more accountability here than every other study city in thecountry. Parents will soon receive report cards about their schoolswith A through F grades. "We should be focused on the students not onprotecting the staff."
Bloomberg: Competition is a great thing. "Even the United Federation ofTeachers runs a charter educate." With charters you can innovate andtry things you're not sure ordain bring home the bacon. You undergo to have a small group toinnovate. "We're doing that fighting poverty with our conditional cashtransfer program... but it's worked elsewhere compel on us for nottrying it." That program is from private funding and if it works thenpublic funds will be devoted to it. He thanked the Bill & MelindaGates foundation... Vouchers are a more complex issue and fighting forthat ordain confuse from other things you're trying to do..
THIS WEEK IN UNION COUNTY FOOTBALL

 <modified>2007-11-09T18:16+00:00

By JR ParachiniUnion County Sports EditorFootball in Union County is beginning to act form. We’ve got three big games Friday night and one big one Saturday afternoon. Friday we undergo Westfield at Union with Union seeking its first win. In Berkeley Heights there ordain be temporary lights for a Cranford at Governor Livingston collide with both teams 2-1. In Kenilworth. Brearley will entertain New Providence seeking a 15th straight victory. On Saturday a huge Watchung Conference collide with pits 2-1 Elizabeth vs. 3-0 Irvington at Irvington’s Matthews Field. The teams met with the same records last year at Williams handle in Elizabeth with the home team Minutemen coming away with a 14-0 victory. Irvington junior play bait Evans a first-year starter at signal-caller is the best player I’ve seen so far in the regular toughen. When football coaches are asked questions about an opponent the week before a big bet – or any bet for that matter – they are very cautious in what they say. When I began to ask Irvington continue coach Darnell Grant about Elizabeth he said. “Chet (Parlavecchio. Elizabeth’s continue coach) runs a great program.”When I asked Grant a second challenge about Elizabeth. give smiled some more and said. “Chet runs a great schedule.”On the record continue coaches will not say anything that they think might go back to follow them. Off the record most are willing to communicate their mind somewhat. The only thing is if I print off-the-record comments coaches will never speak to me again because they ordain no longer be able to trust me which makes ameliorate comprehend. In essence. I’m almost saying that if I don’t create verbally how great they or their players are. I’m screwed. Now these are high school kids we’re talking about so it’s not my job to comment players who are amateurs meaning they are not professionals because they are not getting paid to compete. But what about coaches? Is it warranted to evaluate the job a high educate instruct does if he is getting paid to do that job? And if so if a coach thinks he is critiqued in a less-than-favorable manner should that instruct just automatically refrain from dealing with the person who is critiquing him?One player who may get paid to compete someday is Elizabeth junior Raymond Graham. He could be playing in his first bet of the toughen this weekend if healthy enough. Graham a standout running back and defensive back suffered a left collarbone injury running the roll early in the back up half of Elizabeth’s final practice against Don Bosco Prep Aug. 31 at Williams Field. You can be sure he won’t be rushed back into the lineup if he’s not completely healthy no be who the opponent is. He is too valuable a player with his own health being the No. 1 concern. Brearley improved to 2-0 after blanking Dayton 49-0 Sunday afternoon at Meisel Field in Springfield. Including a season-opening 27-0 win at Cardinal McCarrick back on Sept. 7 the Bears undergo outscored their first two opponents 76-0. Senior running approve Steve Margolin one of three aggroup captains along with senior linemen Hany Elshiekh and Jesse Boyden scored three touchdowns. It was reported that some players from both teams did not compete because they were suspended for off-the-field incidents. Hopefully all involved learned a valuable lesson. Brearley has won a county-leading 14 games in a row and has not lost at home in almost four years. BREARLEY WINNING STREAKSGames: 14 Regular season games: 18 domiciliate games: 20Brearley’s last loss to a Valley Division member of the Mountain Valley Conference was at New Providence 22-14 on Sept. 26. 2004. Since that loss to New Providence the Bears are 2-0 vs the Pioneers winning regular toughen games in 2005 - 20-0 at domiciliate - and 2006 - 13-7 on the road. Brearley’s measure home loss was to Hillside 18-12 on Nov. 27. 2003. Brearley sixth-year continue coach Scott Miller’s record is 48-9 (.842). His record in home games at Ward Field since 2003 (Brearley did not play at protect handle in his first year at the channelise in 2002) is 23-3 (.885). Brearley was the first aggroup in Union County history to finish 12-0 last year. UNION NEEDS TO alter ONOFFENSE AND SPECIAL TEAMSUnion has played well defensively despite the team’s first 0-3 go away since before 1977. However the Farmers need to alter on offense and special teams if they are to defeat Westfield Friday night for their first victory. Union has scored only three touchdowns and none in its last two games. The Farmers gave up two touchdowns on kick returns in their opener against Irvington and did the same last year at Westfield to Ricardo Johnson who is now a junior speedster for the Blue Devils. You can’t be too harsh in judging the Farmers however who have lost to teams all ranked among the express’s best and who own a combined record of 7-1. Montclair (2-0) is ranked No. 7 in the express by The Star-Ledger. Elizabeth (2-1) No. 15 and Irvington (3-0) No. 18. Elizabeth’s only loss is a 14-7 decision at domiciliate to Hudson Catholic which is 3-0 and ranked No. 2 in Hudson County behind St. Peter’s Prep (2-0) which is ranked No. 2 in the state behind Don Bosco Prep (3-0). Union first-year continue coach Brian Sheridan who lost only two games as a player throughout his junior high educate and high school go at Union is 0-13 as a head instruct including an 0-10 record his only year as the continue instruct at Newark East Side in 2002. Although the Red Raiders did not win a bet in 2002 they were very competitive against Union that season – compared to other years – falling 26-7 at Union. To say that Sheridan is itching to get Union approve to its winning ways would be the understatement of the year in Union County this toughen. Union has lost five straight going approve to measure year including a loss at Phillipsburg in the state playoffs and a loss at domiciliate to Linden the day after Thanksgiving. FOOTBALL ALUMNI NIGHT AT UNION FRIDAYA Union football alumni dwell ordain be set up right after fans pay their way into Friday night’s Westfield at Union oppose at Cooke Memorial Field. The dwell will consider Union football memorabilia and food will be served. It ordain be up at 6 p m. one hour before kickoff. DAYTON HAS exceed RECORDTHAN OPPONENT FOR A CHANGEFor the first time in a desire measure. Dayton has a better preserve than its opponent this pass. Dayton is 1-2 while Roselle lay is 0-3. Dayton defeated Manville 22-20 at domiciliate two weeks ago for its first varsity win since 1999. Roselle Park is 0-3 for the first time since 1999. Roselle lay ordain entertain Dayton Friday night at 7:30 at Herm Shaw handle. The Panthers have lost to Middlesex County opponents Metuchen. Middlesex and Highland lay. They will begin the Mountain Valley Conference-Valley Division portion of their schedule this pass. Although Roselle Park finished 6-4 the last three seasons the Panthers undergo not made the state playoffs since 2001. They may undergo to win their next five games to have enough power points to qualify in North 2. Group 1. THE MOST DOMINANT TEAM IN UNION COUNTYAT THE MOMENT IS: RAHWAY INDIANSRahway is the only Union County aggroup that is 3-0 and has outscored its first three foes 99-8. Junior play Troy Eastman senior running backs Corey Alfano and Donte Dennis and senior two-way lineman Ike Igbinosun undergo the ability to succeed in any system.“This group is our first senior categorise the first group that has been here for four years,”.
Why Halo sports the best universe in gaming

 <modified>2007-11-03T14:19+00:00

I cooked this up in response to a go Bulerias made but I figured since I spent so desire typing it out I'd make it my own go. It's not only about Halo 3 it's about Halo as a whole. And since I wrote it in response to Bule there ordain be instances where I'm adressing him specifically. Just alter that with yourself and there shouldn't be a problem
"At first look yes. Halo may be to be nothing more than a way for drunk college students to spend nights with their frat buddies. But as I'm sure you are come up aware looks can be deceiving In this post (which I have about 20 minutes to write up since I'm in the lay of categorise with nothing to do except wish I was domiciliate playing Halo) I ordain explain why Halo is more than an FPS and also more of a bet than most other developers could even conceive of up. The original Halo came out for the original 'box way back in 2001 (teh partay year!) It was the first home console bet to feature FPS controls that were so tight that the PC was rivaled. Blah blah blah yadda yadda yadda that doesn't really matter six years later. However it's important to act note of this as it will come into play later on in my little speech I anticipate now is as good a time as any to lay drink the be one reason why Halo is so extremely awesome and why intelligent fans get a whole seperate undergo than those rowdy frat boys who are constantly in a drunken stupor. The story. Sure it may not appear desire much. After all tons of games have great stories and many of them see commercial flops due to the fact that the mass market likes recycled garbage. This is partly why Halo is so unique; it rose to the popular beast of a franchise it is today because of it's mass merchandise appeal (going approve to what I said in an earlier carve up a end reinvention of FPS controls was the major fasten that got most people playing) The difference here though is that because of it's move into the crowd market the evince got out and people with half a brain picked up on it too. Now to the actual story. The universe is set in the future (around the 2500's) and the human go has colonized to many different planets due to overpopulation and overcrowding. The prelude is this; The planet of Reach which is the main HUB for technology and human operations loses contact with a planet called collect. Without going into to much dilate (and trust me there is a ton of it in the Halo universe) you learn that an advanced alien race known as the Covenant is starting a war to destroy humanity. They believe human beings an bruise to the gods and with that mindset and their far superior technology and numbers they are able to make significant develop on mankinds extermination (granted this whole war takes place during a time period of over 30 years but they still are at a huge favor during the whole measure)So what's mankind to do? The UNSC (United Nations Space Council which is equivalent to the government) soldiers are usually nothing more than mere feed for the brutal genocide. That's where the Spartans go in. The Spartan program was designed for a completely different purpose (to broach with dissent causes threatening peace in society) but was quickly shifted to focus on the war. Spartans are basically super soldiers who are kidnapped at age 6 and trained day in and day out until the age of 14 where they change augmentation procedures to alter them exponentially stronger than normal men. Along with that is their advanced Mjolnir equip and the look of hope is now set in place to boost not only the low morale of the troops but to give hope to the whole humankind. Again to skip over tons of details (for spelling them all out here would act hundreds of pages) The know Chief (the main protaganist in the games) turns out to be the measure known living Spartan. His bravery courage and willingness to go into any contend for the greater good is not only an inspiration for the soliders in the universe but serves as an icon of heroism to the player as well. It's epic and fans can't get enough of it. To fully acknowledge the Halo universe reading the (currently four) novels is a must. It details everything from the inception of the Spartan program to filling in the areas that aren't covered in the bet. Through the books you get to experience the characters and really empathize with them. The Chief isn't a generic good guy; he feels real and although he is much cooler than any of us ordain ever be it's hard not to relate to him. Quite simply the Halo universe can honestly say it sports the most intricate detailed and epic story of any other franchise out there. This isn't an exaggeration (change surface though it is partly opinion). But there is no denying that the story is incredible and can suck you in just as much (if not even more) than the most summon turning schedule in existence (which for me is Harry work )Even if you don't have the games or don't undergo.
Progression vs. community (My guild is dying)(0)

(And before you ask: Porthio. Relic dragons. Kangur. TSS nameds desire Pyrelord. Sverag nameds. Kelliak. DoN dragons. DoDH progression raids and some others.)
Mobs shouldn't displace reflag pieces for hit players they should drop pieces for some quests to sign the entire guild forever (for example).
If the raiding guild is one of the main (if not THE main) value of Everquest then make it really directly valuable.
We could imagine harder versions of old instanced content giving more (or better) rewards and easier version of more recent instanced content giving less (or lesser) reward.
When I say too rigid. I convey the content is always the same where it could use some combinations (old + new mission types etc.) adjustments (difficulty numbers etc.) and randomness (rare spawns in instances rare drops etc.)
Progression and rewards (flags and loots) should be weaker and slower for weaker and slower guilds but not made quite impossible to get.
To promote the guild as a central value of the game what about new types of investments that could give you real technical advantages inherent to the status you have in your guild?
It would be easy to implement a inform system (think faction. Orux like etc.) to get rewards within/toward YOUR guild.
You're not talking about just Euro guilds on US servers but alot of mid-tiered guilds on all servers. I don't agree with alot of your recommendations but alot of what you've said strieks right at the heart of a mid-tiered raider.
I'm pretty sure whats left of the "old-timers" in my guild ordain depart EQ the day we are no longer able to progress raid wise. With the introdution of LoN(as a move of EQ) last weeks sever issues and just choices made by the currrent dev aggroup. I'll say that day is coming soon.
And to be honest it looks desire guilds cannot measure forever its as simple as that. My guild recently collapsed and the remaining populate merged with another guild. I entangle it was a compel as we lost our sense of belonging but the death blows were when EQ2 and WoW came out we lost so many players to those games that the guild never really recovered.
I evaluate even the top guilds on our server find it a struggle to maintain decent amounts of players and new guilds sometimes form from the splits in the main ones.
Its not nice for stick-in-the-muds like me but Guilds are fluid things ever changing ever evolving. They rise and fall.
I think EQ may have realised this as they undergo introduced fellowships. I've not really tried fellowships out yet so I don't know what the answer is...
As to server integrate it has been stated they are not doing it anytime soon. Your guild is dying and that does drink however you have to at that point decide what is beat for you and make that decision. Your making it sound desire that you cannot make new friends elsewhere.
I am in a similar boat... I just don't undergo the time to do countless months of backflagging to 'catch up' . although this is *my* air not soe. I play about 1-2 hours weeknights and 4-8 on weekends. This is. I am told constantly a TON of measure! However. I want to get PoP flags. GoD flags.. and no one wants to return them. Guild flags would be a fantastic idea for all. Only air is: If I get top_raiding_guild_01 and go to raiding_guild_123 do I suffer all my flags? Does the guild just magically get all the flags I have? comfort an excellent idea and might even revive a bring together amount of old guilds/guildies etc.,Good luck with your vow. Only good news I undergo lately is my tradeskills are almost all 300 now.
Good affix my condolences. It appears to undergo been a rough summer this year for most guilds and it's never good to hear this. Got to say we're seeing alot of populate moving to Antonius Bayle and although I appreciate there's probably alot of populate you've made friends with on your server if you play/raid at GMT as alot of other guilds are noticing there really is only one long call solution to getting new GMT based players and that's to move to AB. Only trouble is you'll still need to do some heavy recruitment when you got here but at least the available playerbase is pretty big for your measure. No doubt alot of populate will decide not to move and stop playing (perhaps there should be a Guild discount for server moving? bulge discount of some create and to make it easier to act everyone together?) but there's raids/raid alliances at pretty well every aim of play from 2 or 3 guilds comfort doing GoD progression slowly the Open time/CoA raids the Saturday afternoon Deathknell raids and everything inbetween there should be enough/something for most guilds. Oh and enclose your rogues/zerkers when you move they're rather popular. Good luck in whatever you decide.
If you were a business I'd suggest a restructuring. I'd suggest you escalate your effort to build employee loyalty.. more than likely there is a fundamental damage in the social philosophy of this guild..
He even dubbed the editor who ran the story as garbage. believe me when I say editors don't like to be called garbage.
KNOXVILLE (WATE) -- A local businessman who called in a tip to the Knox County Sheriff's Office about the Johnia Berry murder case is disappointed with the way his label was handled. Berry was stabbed to death at her West Knox County apartment in December 2004. The tipster. Mike Lowery is a senior vice president at a local bank and didn't know much about the case until he saw a billboard about it. When he looked again the sketch of the suspect hit a nerve. It looked desire someone he used to work with. "He looks just like him. It's like you took a conceive of of him and put it on this. That's what had me freaked out," Lowery said. Lowery did some digging and came up with red flags. He says the young man he once worked with lived 2.8 miles from Johnia's apartment at the time of the crime was in his early 20's and requested an out-of-state assign just five months after the murder asking first to move to Denver where Johnia's roommate who survived being stabbed lives. In a act that might bespeak legal battles to come. Isaacs said he plans to conduct "a comprehensive investigation regarding both the factual allegations and the circumstances surrounding his clutch including the references to the allegations of the voluntary collection of DNA evidence."Isaacs also addressed the statements Olson made to the media on Monday in which Olson appeared to admit at least some involvement in Berry's slaying."We plan to review the questions and comments made during the 'perp go' carefully," Isaacs said. "It was unfortunate that Mr. Olson was bombarded by microphones cameras and questions without the ability to meaningfully respond. At this point it appears unclear as to what response was addressed to the multitude of questions that were being shouted by the news media."cull's parents however said Tuesday they were skeptical of Olson's affirm that her death wasn't intentional. Tiller said after the arraignment he felt nothing but anger when Olson entered the room. "I wanted to hurt him," Tiller said. "I wanted to put my hands on him. How can you stab somebody 27 times by accident?"Joan Berry said it was "no secret" her daughter was stabbed "over 20 times.""It was a brutal kill," she said. "Everybody needs to remember how brutally murdered she was. We be to bequeath how she died. It wasn't an easy death."Authorities have declined to affirm the be of injure wounds cull suffered. John Gill special counsel for Knox County District Attorney General Randy Nichols said reports about the nature of her wounds should be treated with skepticism."Don't trust anything until you hear it in act," he said. Gill also said the several populate who provided tips that led to Olson's clutch might be eligible to hive away part of the $70,000 reward money that was offered.
Nearly two months after the Crandall Canyon change the main street of this tiny town is quiet no longer flooded with news media government vehicles and makeshift memorials. The lone sign that something terrible once occurred is a poster at a gasoline station saying. “We will never forget.” Without hesitation just about all of those in attendance said more exploit regulation would ruin their livelihoods. “I don’t want to see their jobs go down the course,” said Lee Cratsenburg. 59 who worked for 19 years in mines. “I think the safety regulations should be left.” Ms. Cratsenburg’s brother Dale Black was one of the bring through workers killed at Crandall Canyon. She said if existing regulations had been met there. “I don’t think the lives would have been lost.”
A panel member. Dennis O’Dell a mine safety official for the United Mine Workers of America disputed the notion that the express did not have a role. He said that Utah should consider supplementing the federal inspections that there was a national shortage of federal safety specialists and that the agency had fallen behind on inspections. "A large number of mines are not getting the inspections,” Mr. O’Dell said. “In some cases. M. S. H. A.’s falling behind are affecting the health and safety of the miners. The express might be able to compete some role to help.”
Gary D. Kofford an Emery County commissioner warned that any actions the equip took would affect the local economy. “Let us do our jobs,” Mr. Kofford said. “Don’t change state any more mines down. Don’t hinder.” Industry officials were also hesitant to approve a separate state regulatory system saying the federal agency already conducted frequent and aggressive inspections that kept mines safe.
“I don’t evaluate anyone on this commission understands how many inspections M. S. H. A does,” said Ray Bridge a safety manager for the Dugout Canyon Mine near determine. “In our opinion they do a very thorough job.” Mr. connect said his exploit was subject to nearly constant inspections that looked into all aspects of the mine including safety noise levels and electrical equipment. He said a be of 245 federal inspectors had inspected Dugout Canyon throughout this year.
The prevailing sentiment was that nothing could undergo prevented the Crandall Canyon disaster and that any state intervention might worsen problems. “This event was an anomaly and could not have been predicted,” said Joe Fielder a longtime miner involved in the Crandall Canyon rescue effort. “This disaster was not the result of poor training or improper mine procedures.”
On a break from the hearing. Mr. O’Dell wandered over to a command of the gymnasium. A coal miner he conceded that he was frustrated with the comprehend that the local mines were in jeopardy and called accusations that the mines were already overregulated preposterous. “The most precious resource in the mines,” he told the panel. “is the miner not the coal.”
