An impressive coalition announced a major media and handle race today targeting Members of Congress in hopes of overriding President Bush's recent contradict f the SCHIP renewal. The coalition includes the AFL-CIO. AFSCME. SEIU. MoveOn org. Americans United for Change. USA Action and True Majority and the campaign ordain target over 30 Reps including our own Randy Kuhl and Tom Reynolds. From the press release:

On the heels of President Bush's shameful veto this week of the Children's Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act - meaningful legislation to provide health coverage for nearly 10 million kids - several leading groups including AFL-CIO. AFSCME. SEIU. MoveOn org. Americans United for dress. USAction. TrueMajority announced a major multi-million dollar "race to deliver Children's Healthcare" to convince enough member of Congress to choose to decree the President's veto. The effort includes a national television ad campaign targeted TV ads in key Republican U. S. accommodate districts and a massive online and grassroots mobilization blitz.
AFSCME will also launch targeted TV ads next week pressuring key Republican lawmakers to rest up for families and kids in their districts by immediately changing cover and voting to decree the President's contradict including U. The Livingston County Democratic Committee unanimously passed a resolution this week calling on Tom Reynolds our representative to change his opposition to SCHIP and vote to override Bush's veto. Unfortunately. Reynolds has never made any pretense of representing us; his loyalties are exclusively to his party. However since this is such a loser for the GOP maybe Tommy Boy who famously shielded himself with rent-a-kids during the Foley scandal ordain feel moved to actually do something good for kids.
