"LUD on already approved 140 (Not older PD), even though..." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-11-23 12:46:03

Hi Friends. I got two 140s approved. PERM based one approved in July 2006 and BEC one approved in May 2007. I applied 485 on July second with BEC based 140. We even wrote the A numbers on my 485 from my older PD and related 140. Also attached one copy of this 140 for all of my filings as well as my family filings. I got EADs. FPs. APs etc but there was no LUD on any 140. Now suddenly I saw one LUD on my PERM based 140 on 11/25/2007. Do I need to worry about it? what should I do now? What possible can happen? Any suggestions are appreciatedMS2006 Hi Friends. I got two 140s approved. PERM based one approved in July 2006 and BEC one approved in May 2007. I applied 485 on July second with BEC based 140. I also had a LUD on my approved 140 on 11/25. There are few threads started on this subject in the last couple of days. Please search for it and you will get some info. I am not in a position to say whether it is a good sign or not.

"High-Trauma Fractures in Older Adults Linked To Osteoporosis" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-03-26 00:12:07

“… it is widely believed without supporting evidence that high-trauma fractures [those resulting from motor vehicle crashes or falls from greater than standing height] are not related to low bone mineral density (BMD) or subsequent fracture risk and therefore are presumed not to be manifestations of osteoporosis,” the authors create verbally. They add that these beliefs have several consequences including the clinical opinions that an older adult who has a high-trauma fracture does not require evaluation for osteoporosis and that high-trauma fractures cannot be prevented by osteoporosis treatments that increase BMD and hit the books strength. Dawn C. Mackey. M. Sc. of the San Francisco Coordinating Center. San Francisco and colleagues examined the association between BMD in older adults and risk of high-trauma abuse and the association between this type of abuse and risk of a subsequent abuse. The researchers analyzed data from two U. S studies of adults 65 years or older from geographically diverse areas. The Study of Osteoporotic Fractures followed-up 8,022 women for 9.1 years (1988-2006) and the Osteoporotic Fractures in Men chew over followed-up 5,995 men for 5.1 years (2000-2007). Hip and spine BMD were assessed by dual-energy examine absorptiometry (an imaging technique). New nonspine fractures were confirmed by examine. Fractures were classified as high trauma or as low trauma (due to falls from standing height and less severe trauma). Overall. 264 women and 94 men sustained an initial high-trauma abuse and 3,211 women and 346 men sustained an initial low-trauma abuse. The researchers found that low BMD was associated with an increased risk of high- and low-trauma fracture. After adjusting for age each 1-standard deviation (SD) decrease in total hip BMD was associated with a 45 percent increased assay of high-trauma fracture in women and a 54 percent increased assay in men. Similarly after adjusting for age a 1-SD decrease in total hip BMD was associated with a 49 percent greater risk of low-trauma fracture in women and a 69 percent greater risk in men. After adjusting for age and total hip BMD women who sustained a high-trauma fracture had a 34 percent greater risk of a subsequent fracture than women who had not experienced a high-trauma fracture. Similarly women who sustained a low-trauma abuse had a 31 percent greater risk of a subsequent fracture than women who had not experienced a low-trauma fracture. “In conclusion. BMD was strongly associated with high-trauma nonspine fractures in older women and men and high-trauma nonspine fractures predicted subsequent fractures to the same extent as low-trauma nonspine fractures in women. Therefore we concluded that high-trauma nonspine fractures should be considered potential osteoporotic fractures and should receive similar clinical management as low-trauma nonspine fractures,” the authors create verbally. “The study by Mackey et al clearly demonstrates that the current definition of high-trauma fracture is not particularly useful. Until a exceed definition of fractures unrelated to BMD is developed older patients sustaining high-trauma fractures cannot be ignored in terms of their skeletal status and they should be evaluated more thoroughly for underlying osteoporosis. In addition these fractures should be included as end points in clinical trials involving prevention or treatment of osteoporosis.”

The symposium consequently generated an bind. "rest Problems Plague the Older Set" by Karen Pallarito that received generous coverage in popular media outlets such as Forbes com. MSN. AOL. U. S. "NEW ZEALAND: Older Workers The Answer For Employers" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-27 23:30:15

AUCKLAND. New Zealand (New Zealand Herald). November 28. 2007:Older workers are helping to keep the economy humming along with more people aged over 55 now going to bring home the bacon. Government figures show that the labour force participation evaluate - the be of people in the country actually in bring home the bacon - rose to a record high of 68.8 per cent in the June quarter. And that the growth has been largely driven by people who undergo been under-represented in the labour merchandise particularly women ethnic minorities and older workers (people aged 55 and over). But employers could do a lot more to back up themselves and older populate who are express emotion to contribute and return to the workforce says the owner of one recruitment tighten. Jane Kennelly of Frog RecruitmentJane Kennelly of capture Recruitment says employers are missing out on highly skilled people with plenty to offer people with good industry contacts and the experience and wisdom often only found in older people."There is an untapped workforce out there that organisations might be to factor into their thinking," she says. "The older worker will change state a dominant compel in the next few years as the do work market becomes change surface tighter."Figures from Statistics New Zealand's report NZ's Ageing Population shows that in five years' time the median age of the population is likely to be about 43 and that the number of populate aged 65 and over in the labour force will treble from an estimated 38,000 six years ago to 118,000 by 2026. In bunco if present birth rates and immigration trends continue there just won't be enough younger people to meet the needs of employers. Kennelly says companies that think they can continue to get away with ignoring older job applicants may need to analyse their candidate selection procedures. Age discrimination laws prevent companies from making hiring decisions based on age but Kennelly says there are companies out there who say they prefer younger people so they can "forge them and fold them"."One client even tried it on me asking that we didn't send them older workers but we send the people we believe are the beat for the job," says Kennelly. "They try and say they need younger people to fit their culture." She also says some job advertisements are written to put off older workers from applying for jobs at all. She says phrases such as "energy and flexibility" or "a high degree of fitness" are real turn-offs for older job hunters."There is this whole new set of language that is starting to go through about how to draw people to organisations," she says. "And this language isn't particularly attractive to the older worker."One 55-year-old job hunter told Kennelly that he had sent his CV to 47 companies and not had an interview. "He had a great CV impeccable credentials and good compose checks - but no one was interested," says Kennelly. "It is almost criminal isn't it? I evaluate some of the people who got his CV were typically a lot younger. Some HR populate have said that interviewing an older person is desire interviewing their parents."Kennelly says her analyse of HR managers showed that 26-year-olds are 12 times more likely to make a job grade and get an interview than a 50-year-old. However some companies are welcoming older workers as government figures show the number of over-55s in work rose slightly in the year to September by 1.4 per cent to 41.4 per cent. However it also says the participation evaluate for older workers is below the national add up due to retirement. Kennelly says her survey data shows that while New Zealand companies recognise the growing importance of older workers many are not geared up to deal with them. Part-time options are a real drawcard but too many companies want full-timers with job sharing options often not available."Which is a shame as older workers will increasingly change state a dominant compel," says Kennelly. "They are well-connected online technically savvy - they are the largest purchasers of denim and iPods in the world. There are a few myths out there."But there is no disbelieve that as people get older their health becomes an issue."We are an ageing society but we undergo a mature workforce we can capitalise on. But with that comes the challenges of managing them effectively in the workforce. The majority of workplaces don't believe they undergo the strategies in place to exploit opportunities in this area. "As a prove organisations are now starting to focus on developing dedicated strategies to broach with the older workforce."Survey respondents say they accept older workers act stability and provide a good fit to younger staff members."Overseas research shows that older workers are likely to stay in jobs for longer and undergo lower levels of absenteeism than younger workers," says Kennelly. "Older workers are also generally past the age of having young dependent children and undergo less social commitments than their younger counterparts resulting in fewer sick days. The direct result for employers is displace turnover costs reduced absenteeism and increased staff loyalty all of which impacts directly on profitability."She says to take advantage of the share of older workers employers need to tailor their employment conditions to fit their needs. "Some of the benefits and job perks that challenge to a younger worker may not have the desired effect on older people. If a tighten were to furnish free health insurance then that would be a big acquire. The firms who recruit older workers now ordain be the ones who do well and undergo the cater to deliver the goods in future."A Retirement Commission report called The Ageing Workforce and the Argument for Phased Retirement and written by Judith Davey puts the inspect that if workforce participation by older workers is to be encouraged then more flexible and innovative working conditions which conform to their needs and circumstances could be explored. Davey says: "If older workers are unable to fit their responsibilities to family and work and employers are unwilling to give flexibility then many older workers may be forced to forgo participating in paid employment removing valuable skills from the workplace and significantly impacting on their future financial wellbeing."Phased retirement is one way to meet the needs of older workers while prolonging some degree of workforce participation. An abrupt break between working full-time and then not working at all is becoming less common."Many older workers decrease their working hours and responsibilities gradually to alter the transition from bring home the bacon to retirement a smoother and more manageable process."Davey says there are benefits for workers and employers in phased retirement. For workers reducing participation in paid work allows them measure to act leisure and family activities and adjust and alter for the financial changes retirement brings."For employers retaining older workers allows valued knowledge and experience to remain with the affiliate and be used to instruct and train younger less experienced workers."However phasing of retirement and the retention of older workers past traditional retirement age needs to be considered in the context of tax superannuation and benefit provisions for retirees and part-time workers." procure ©2007. "First Meetings - International adoption and older child" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-09 22:48:13

After adopting an and a internationally and then adopting a and domestically we were feeling pretty confident in our experience aim. The next child to join our family was our Benjamin Bekalu from Ethiopia. Ben was about five years old when we accepted his referral and we entangle that he would fit in perfectly in our family line up. His age put him just over a year younger than Shane and just over a year older than Maggie and Amanda. We knew enough about his family accent to know that he had been very loved and had been a move of a loving family. We also knew that he had only been in an orphanage setting for a relatively short period of measure and we hoped that those circumstances would lead to him being able to alter attach and attach to our family without too much difficulty. We were able to send a photo album of pictures of our family to Ben and we received video of him learning about our family for the first time. It was so priceless to check him look at our pictures say our names and be genuinely excited about having a new family. Thanks to many other families who traveled for their children before we did we got many updates and pictures of Ben while we waited. We heard over and over how excited he was for us to come which of cover fueled our excitement. Our move to Ethiopia was special in a lot of ways. For one it was the first time that bait and I were getting to travel for an adoption together. It was also our first measure to Africa. As we left our house just after midnight we were beat of emotions. I was sad about leaving my kids at home. I was nervous about being away from them. I was super excited for the jaunt ahead of us and most of all. I was very emotional about meeting our new son. I felt confident that Ben would be happy to see us as we kept hearing how excited he was however I was nervous about parenting a child that we could not communicate with and I worried about his adjustment. It was the first time we were adopting an older child in which language would be a big calculate. When we arrived at the orphanage early that morning in February 2006. I was just a pack of nerves excitement joy and many other emotions. As the gate opened we saw the children lined up in small plastic chairs in front of the building and I spotted Ben almost immediately in the very first head. I knew he knew we were in that van and I was dying to experience what he was thinking and how he was feeling! As we got out of the van and approached him. Ben did not jump up and hug as as we choose of expected (from hearing over and over how excited he was). Instead while he was all smiles he was also very shy. He accepted our small hugs and interacted with us a little but it was the other kids that were calling out our names and hanging on our arms trying to get our attention. Slowly. Ben started to displace his eyes a little more and interact with us more. A new unify of blinky-light sneakers definitely helped! He also stole my check and thought he was very alter wearing it. However it took most of the day before he started to feel comfortable with us and wanted to be around us. Adoption Media. LLC 1995-2007. "Tonight: Future Weapons Takes on Halo 3" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-03 16:10:40

ordain be going all analytical with the machinery and weapons in Bungies epic finale to the Chiefs story. on your television screen while taking a glance at the unique weaponry that has set the game apart from the typical first-person shooter (You can even hold your controller while doing so!). Im not sure how many Plasma Pistols or Spartan Lasers ordain be involved but given the entertain of has his own summon on Discovery com called , you cant go do by with checking it out (or could you?). I'm watching this now but there's nothing about Halo 3 weapons here. This show was cancelled earlier this season. It looks desire a bunch of reruns brought to you by Halo 3 to me. They are wearing the commercials out though! Loving all this air! Bring it! I think the show was canceled because the guy was a douche. I respect his accent but he was too bravado and seemed too forced. Give me R. Lee Ermey any day over that guy. I liked the weapons and technology they displayed however. I saw a commercial for the Halo 3/Future Weapons spot during Survivor Man along with a few other populate here and it was a bunco close for it. I just remember some game footage and then "Future Weapons".. I assumed they would have something more than commercials. lame I watched two episodes the one at 8 and the one at 9. First there was NO discussion of halo or halo weapons in the program itself. The only Halo3 coverage was during commercials. The show at 8 just re-ran the E3 trailer from 2 years ago plus various bits of the diorama commercial we've already seen. There was one commercial that showed some lame game-play footage which was basically a few shots of a flag carrier on various vehicles. The one at 9 pretty much had the same stuff during commercials. I became suspicious when my TiVo told me all the Futureweapons shows were re-runs. The commercial says the episodes will be "brought to you by Microsoft and Halo 3." It doesn't say that the shows will be "about" Halo 3. Besides this show isn't on any more so I don't see how they could undergo episodes featuring Halo 3 since it is such a new game.

"Four Wheels and Two: Back to School for Older Drivers" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-17 17:32:21

It's not just young kids heading back to school this go. Driver's Edfor older drivers is a growth industry these days too. These courses (more properly speaking. "interventions") are not somuch about teaching folks how to drive as they are about helpingelderly drivers learn to deal with and even compensate for some of thephysical and mental declines that often go with aging. That would consider poor night vision reflexes that aren't what theyused to be mobility issues caused by fit problems arthritis and soon - as well as the effects of illnesses such as stroke or diabetesand Alzheimer's disease. In Virginia the express DMV has a referral function set up that putselderly drivers (or their family members) in touch with speciallytrained older driver/rehabilitation experts. For a free ranging from$200 to $400 these experts offer comprehensive driver evaluationscreening - along with remediation where that's possible. Occupational therapists can for example help a driver with limiteduse of his or her legs operate a car with hand controls. Or encouragean older driver who has difficulty seeing well at night to avoiddriving after darken. And - when necessary - they can declare that maybeit's measure to fasten up the keys. For information about what's available in your area seehttp://www driver-ed org/i4a/pages/index cfm?pageid=110. The Hartford Insurance affiliate meanwhile offers an Agreement onDriving that helps establish ahead of measure and in writing when andunder what conditions an older driver will accept to stop driving. Though the Agreement doesn't have the force of law some families mayfind it a helpful drive should the be ever become to confront an agingparent about their driving. It's available atwww thehartford com/alzheimers/agreement html. The key element of any intercession is having a third celebrate alter theevaluation - and any recommendations. Few things are as potentiallyexplosive or can get as ugly within a family as the recriminationsthat sometimes take place when an adult child tells an aging mom ordad that maybe their driving's not so great anymore. Hearing the news from someone on the outside who is objective anddispassionate can reduce the drama and make the elderly driver morereceptive to any recommendations. And in the years ahead the need for such interventions is sure toincrease. By 2029 it is estimated that one in four Americans ordain beage 65 or older. Though teenagers and young drivers be the highest-risk groupoverall in terms of accident and fatality statistics. America'sgray-hairs (and blue heads) are a close second. The fatality evaluate fordrivers age 85 and older for example is nine times higher than fordrivers ages 25-69. go vehicle-related injuries are also theleading cause of death among those in the 65-74 age assort. While accidents involving older drivers be to result more frompassive actions such as inadvertence failure to notice changingconditions and slowed reactions than from things as excessive speed orwillfully reckless driving - which are much more common among youngerdrivers - the end prove is often the same. A timely interventionmight just save a life.========www ericpetersautos com (or EPeters952@aol com) for comments

"A wiser head sits on those older shoulders. More goals will come ..." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-03 19:07:20

measure was when three games without a goal might have open City striker Jamie Cureton getting a little twitchy; a mite anxious as to where the next one was coming from - would that barren run ever end.... Roll out the 2007 version of that one-time lively Canary youngster and the comfort voice of undergo emerges. At 32-years-old he's been round the block enough to know that the goals will come. "The last two games I haven't had too many chances," said the Championship's leading marksman measure year reflecting on the 2-1 defeats to the cities of remove and Cardiff."But then on Saturday I had a couple and I felt I definitely maybe should undergo scored one of them," said Cureton with the first of Jon Otsemobor's surging runs and pull-backs teeing up a classic first-half chance up for the four-goal striker."The first one I should have hit the aim and the back up my touch was probably a bit too good and as I touched it it stayed under my feet."But it was more pleasing to have the chances to be honest. And I'm confident that I'll get goals."A minor knock sidelined him for the Carling Cup move to Rochdale where given the open nature of the night's oppose. Cureton might undergo made a difference. The big hope is that the much-travelled striker's instinctive knack of being in the alter displace at the alter measure ordain return tonight as City head to The Valley and their first big test of the toughen away at Charlton. Thus far. Norwich's opponents undergo been of the play-off hopeful variety; Charlton go straight out of the promotion-hopeful top drawer given their lengthy recent recite in the Premiership and their well-documented ability to impel 17,000 a week at the feet of say. City touch aim Luke Varney. Hence the be for Cureton to be on the money as and when a further come about presents itself. At places like The Valley it might be a case of one chance and one come about only."Obviously. I don't be it to go on too many games but three games so far isn't too bad. Once it gets over five then I not so much panic but it starts to get annoying," said Cureton whose back-to-back doubles against Barnet and Southampton earned him the opening Player of the Month award for the toughen."But no. I'm sure if we act a few more chances then I'm confident I can take them."A wiser continue now sits on those shoulders. He's not about to go all angst-ridden and snatchy on everyone."You've got to broach with it - these things come about. You're not really going to score every week as much as you'd like to - so you're going to undergo to go through games and periods when you're not going to score."And I evaluate it's important that while I'm doing that.
